Alternatively, if we are going to tank or rebuild why don’t we just trade our assets away for young players and/or picks and just ride out the overpaid contracts until we can use them in trades as expiring contracts? If we are truly rebuilding, it’s going to take more than 3 years and cap space is largely overrated so double down on the youth/asset movement.

Agreed.

The only benefit to attaching valuable assets to unload bad deals is if you're the owner and you want to cut costs.

We won't be in a position to push forward until those deals are either expirings or expired.

But right now we've got an administration that's trying to keep it's job. Admitting that the current plan has failed isn't exactly something they're in a position to be able to do, and that's what it would take to embrace a rebuild. Our only chance for such a plan is if SVG and crew are fired, which is very likely in the offseason if this season continues to spiral like this.

The real fear here is that we mortgage our future on some win now moves in a last ditch effort to save everyone's jobs. Right now I think we need to pray for a quiet trade deadline despite our miserable position, because I don't think starting the rebuild during the season is in the cards.

Agree the bad deals of Boba, Langston & Leur are not going to be the difference and could cost us draft picks or young assets trying to clear them. We need to clear anything valuable Dre, Reggie, Tobias, Avery and get what we can, and then be prepared to take on some bad contracts whilst we tank if it means some good picks come with them.

Unfortunately I think they'll win enough to be the 7-9th and that's just not good enough. We're a treadmill team whether you like to admit it or not. Jackson just isn't enough for the team. I believe we need to trade Bradley asap regardless of what happens.

It obviously depends on what is coming back - ex. how high a draft pick / how good of a young player. I doubt any teams are clamoring to give up any great picks/players for what we have to offer (outside of Drummond). If it came down to getting a late first/early second vs unloading a guy like Leuer, I think i'd unload Leuer.
