Braun said yesterday he's open to playing first. For whatever that's worth, I would expect with the coin he's making he'll play anywhere. Rickie Weeks was a douche about that.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

They wanted Weeks to change positions in the middle of the season with fans already on his ass. Imagine playing a position you've never played, with little to no practice time there, with fans already on you and you start misplaying balls in the corner and having them bounce away. I wouldn't have changed positions either if I was Weeks. **** position to put him in and **** that it got out to the public.

Really surprised it's been a 3-4 more days and the next move hasn't happened. I thought for sure they had something lined up for Santana before any of this all went public. Maybe they thought they did and the other team/teams have now backed off or are trying to pay less, that's probably the most likely scenario. Or maybe it's all being delayed by Darvish's decision, as all teams and the other FA Ps next moves are contingent.

Media has been saying Santana's value isn't all that high. Rosenthal wrote about it yesterday.

Nice. Given his age, may be a bit of a risk...but $ wise it's pretty small.

Fat Matt is definitely the guy most likely to get mistaken for a fan when entering the club house the first time. I'm sure he's going to love the Milwaukee cuisine.

We have a family friend that did a lot with his wife, and thus saw him enough, and said he really was one of the nicest guys.

However, that wasn't the first time they asked him to move and it wasn't the first time he said no/complained about his position (other time being where he was hitting in the order).

Doesn't really seem like the kind of guy you want to give a 2 year deal but whatever. He was really good last year so I guess that got him a second year on the deal.

EDIT: hopefully this means the end of Oliver Drake, seems like a nice guy but doesn't really have any business being on this team

It was just a month into the season, Weeks wasn't playing and we needed help at outfielder and/or first base and he wouldn't even give it a try. He was sitting on the bench and being paid $11 million. Sure it isn't changing positions in the middle of the season. But when you're being paid $11 million and not playing anyway you at least try to help your team.

.203 BABIP, 92.4 LOB% for Albers. I'm sure he'll be just great. He wasn't lucky at all last year.

There are literally no players in baseball that you would like to sign. Even if it is someone that has good peripherals, it would be an overpay in your mind because other GMs will know these stats and force the market into a larger contract.

The best thing is going to be when he struggles this year (which will surprise nobody - any 35 year old player that only warrants a smaller contract is a risk) and you come here telling us that you were the one that knew this all along.

Not the exact number but we're around $92.5 million.

Interesting. I would think they'd want some flexibility to add salary at the deadline. Not sure they'd go to $100 before the season. Unless somehow, someway they can unload Braun

Looks like we're paying Lohse and Ramirez a combined $5.3 million this year

I think the theoretical max is about $120 million (mostly a guess, but that is what people think given their previous max + some inflation). I figured it would be a gradual rise, but now after this sudden change, they could get close to it this season. There will be arbitration raises next year, so if their goal is $120, they should be at $105-110 this year.

Going back to a few page ago people wanted a Swarzak replacement. Albers is a better pitcher and costs significantly less.

I'm not so sure he's going to be better than Swarzak but I'll take my chances with Albers at 2/5 over Swarzak at 2/14.
