Clips are trying to move Jordan and Williams - they want draft picks. Other teams can do better but how about Mahimni, Morris, Smith + 1st?
Okay - pipe dream I know - but a fella can hope.
they only got a 2019 1st for Griffin. Even though they said they want a 1st round pick just for Lou, maybe the sellers market will bring the price down. Maybe they have some interest in a Gallinari-Porter swap within a deal.
there would be some serious cash moving in this, but what about a Porter-Morris-Meeks-Mahinmi for Jordan-Williams-Gallinari swap?
They got a very good haul for Griffin. Harris is a good young player (only 26 - feels like he's been around forever) on a reasonable contract that expires next year. Bradley is a solid player and upcoming free agent who they may or may not keep. The pick is a top-4 protected pick this year, not next year, and there's a decent chance it will end up late lotto.
Most importantly, the Clippers got out of Griffin's long contract before it became ugly. That's the real value here. They weren't going anywhere anyway, now this trade gives them a tremendous amount of flexibility. Man, I'd kill to have a legendary GM with foresight and clout like Jerry West.
As far as the trade you proposed, I want no part of Gallo. He's an injury-prone shell of his former self, and we'd actually be worse off cap wise because his deal runs as long as Mahinmi's at a bigger number. You figure DeAndre will command a salary around what Otto is making now, if not higher. Lou WIll would command more than the $11M or so Morris and Meeks will make combined next year. In short, we're still in cap/luxury tax hell without re-signing Oubre.
