First off, i'm utterly heartbroken that the only reason i watch the Clippers has been traded off the team. The Clippers were just straight up a joy to watch when this man was healthy and balling it up on the court. Adding CP3 years ago was a coup, but then the acquisition of Doc Rivers and his worthless son basically spelled the downfall of the franchise. Doc's gross mismanagement of assets basically obliterated the Clippers window.
Jerry West coming on board and after the CP3 trade, it was pretty damn clear that things were gonna change. Personally i got absolute faith in the Logo, and i think i see what he's trying to do.
CLE has been linked with 2 major names this deadline in both DJ and Bradley. Clippers now have them both AND have the 6th man of the year lighting everything on fire. CLE wants to get rid of TT, Shump, and JR. I bet Jerry thinks he can pry that BRK 1st out of CLE's hands if he puts those 3 on the table and is willing to take back 2 of those bad contracts. Lou Will off their bench when LBJ sits is a potent weapon.
LAC trades
DJ
Bradley
Lou Will
CLE trades
JR Smith
Shump
Frye
BRK unprotected #1
CLE wants to clear off the overpaid dreck at SG and get massive SIZE to bolster their frontline. I see CLE keeping TT to deploy off the bench and hope he can bring the same lightning he showed against GSW 2 years ago.
CLE
C - DJ, TT
PF-Love, Crowder
SF-LBJ, Korver
SG-Wade, Bradley
PG-IT, Lou Will, Rose
Man they're literally 2 DEEP at all positions and they dump 2 bad contracts in the process. Every night can someone off the bench can be a hero. I still think GSW will kick their ass, but this is literally the best team CLE can field.
After West pulls off the coup nabbing the BRK pick, albeit at high price, comes stage 2 of his master plan. Tankathon like mad and pray for ping pong luck, clear enough cap to sign 1 Max FA outright. Stage 3 then... is to do what he does best, trade for a superstar after convincing a FA superstar to sign with him after he pulls a rabbit out of his ass. Currently i see one on the market that will likely be disgruntled and might be had if the price is right and a major FA
Anthony Davis.
Face it, Nawlins is screwed ever since Boogie went down. Theyre in cap hell and they might see the writing on the wall the same way the Clippers did with Griffin, except if they trade AD earlier they can reap a much more massive return.
Here it comes...
LAC trades
Tobias Harris
Shumpert
BRK #1
DET #1
NOP trades
Anthony Davis
Assuming BRK pick is high enough, like say a lotto winner, this becomes an even bigger no brainer move to make for Nawlins, as its an amazing rebuild package offer. DET pick is likely to be #15-20 range.
Thus it leaves the Clippers with
LAC
C- Unibrow, Boban
PF- Gallo, Montrezl
SF- LBJ, Johnson
SG- JR Smith, Rivers
PG- Teodosic
Call me crazy, but i think this crazy scenario is how Jerry West wants to play out. I mean if there's any credence to the LBJ to Clippers rumors, this is just about the ONLY way i can see LBJ coming. If Jerry West doesnt want to be patient, this is how he's gonna ride or die with the roster. Surround Bron with shooters and pray the defense holds up.

I like it. I don't think the LeBron stuff will happen but I think West wants to stay flexible. I absolutely think that the Cavs trade will happenVae Victus wrote:First off, i'm utterly heartbroken that the only reason i watch the Clippers has been traded off the team. Re: Smoking the Pipe and I see a vision...
The idea of packaging both DJ and Bradley for that Brooklyn 1st is an interesting possibility. That would be very significant help for the Cav's playoff chances, and Brooklyn's pick is no longer a Top 3 lock as it was once perceived to be. Plus that dead weight we'd have to take to match salaries. And if Lebron were to leave, the Cavs could shed a lot of salary since DJ and Bradley are expiring.
We still have Lou Williams to potentially trade for assets as well, I don't think there will be any other major moves though this season.
But if we hypothetically swung a DJ and Bradly for Brooklyn #1 and contracts, and also flipped Lou Williams for a mid/late 1st, that would give us an incredible haul going into this draft- 4 #1 picks including 1 pretty high one. We could flip that into 2 or 3 even higher picks. Those picks, Harris, Teodosic, Gallinari, and the young players we already have would make an interesting young roster for next year. It wouldn't be a winning team perhaps, but it would be one with hope.

Hell i'd happily throw in Lou to secure the trade. From me trawling the various CLE boards they want a ADavis level return for that pick.
Obviously theyre delusional, but if their FO rightly pegs that LBJ is leaving no matter what, trading that pick is basically mortgaging their future. However cleaning up that cap situation ought to be attractive, going into an offseason when teams dont have much cap space, meaning they can snag alot of good value deals to go along with Love assuming the worst happens and LBJ bolts.
Give Jerry West a high pick... good things will happen.

Cavs owner Dan Gilbert is not going to trade away the Brooklyn pick, the future. LeBron is gone. Winning or losing another title before he leaves will be forgotten by training camp.

Return to Los Angeles Clippers
