Willie Reed

Post#1 » by vege » Tue Jan 30, 2018 10:27 am

Am I the only one who like Willie Reed A LOT?

Moreland is not bad, but we needed an upgrade at backup Center, and Willie Reed is a very good 20 mpg player. He is good on the post, a solid shot blocker and a plus defender.

We stole him in this trade, him and Tolliver are going to be great off the bench.

right there with you bud, Willie Reed may have more to do with us making the playoffs than BG. We don't lose that much in size and athleticism with Reed and gives LK and SJ a target. Provides a presence in the middle that moreland tries hard to convey. I believe our only worry will be his foul trouble. SVG may do wonders with this player

Unless BG is short for Ben Gordon than well...

I kid, I kid. But Reed and Brice Johnson are throw ins for cap/tax purposes. Is Reed better than Moreland - probably. I remember Reed with the Drive a couple seasons ago. Both are fringe NBA players, 3rd center types on league minimum deals. So one being better than the other hardly matters when they shouldn't be getting regular playing time anyways.

As a Floridian, I got to see Reed play some last season. Dude is a solid backup. Definitely, an improvement over Morelend. We needed Center depth badly and getting Reed is a solid bonus.

Does Reed have any kind of mid range game?

Looks I continue to be the only Moreland fan on the board, which is fine.

Dude is a solid defender, a good rebounder, an under-rated passer, always high energy, and sets good screens.

There is probably a reason why Willie Reed has been on 3 different teams in the past 3 seasons. Its probably the same reason why LAC, who looks to be headed towards a full rebuild, gave him up despite being dirt cheap labor.

If Reed proves to be anything positive, that's a bonus. I just personally don't see what the shine is about with this guy.

Eh - solid hustle guy who will rebound and defend. Obviously, it's an area we needed some help at, but he's probably looking at 10 mpg max. I like him, but I'm not sure he's going to look great on our current bench. Unless we snag another scorer somewhere, we are going to need dre or BG on the floor pretty much constantly.

Reed is easily a upgrade over Moreland and has chemistry playing with Blake

Seemed like Boban had been getting more run than Moreland the past few games. Think we were showcasing him? Situation/matchup related? Or was Moreland really behind Boban?

Obviously, I'd love for Reed to provide some positive production. I just personally haven't seen him do it yet

I think it was probably more Stan trying to change things up and see if anything worked. Starting Galloway at PG after he had largely been out of the rotation before that, might be another example of this.

Detroit struggles on offense pretty often, and Boban certainly helps with that way more than Moreland does.

Possibly showing he's not completely useless and could play some regular minutes. Also interesting that AB hamstring injury - didn't want to risk him getting hurt given his propensity to do so?

Clip fan here. Willie is dope. All energy, nice touch around the rim, seemingly never gets tired, and looks really cheesy which is funny.

Moreland not having to play anymore is a nice silver lining to this trade for me, to be sure.

Willie Reed definitely looks like a solid upgrade.

Agreed. I think actually Reed is a solid rebounder and above average defender in the paint. I like him being able to give the Pistons 10-15 solid minutes a night.
