President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Smh, Fuller was an intriguing prospect at a position that's really hard to fill.

Slurs gave up the best player in the deal AND a draft pick. What? It’s like EFG and Allen share a brain.

I hate that. If you move on from Cousins then you should be putting almost no money into the position I.e. Colt McCoy as you prepare a drafted quarterback.

Paying Alex Smith a long term deal serves....what purpose? It's continuing mediocrity.

These longerm deals are smoke and mirrors, Smith will neither see the full five years of the deal nor will Washington have to deal with big salary cap implications when they're ready to transition the position to the successor.

Fuller leaving as part of the deal is a far bigger head scratcher.

Yup, this is what I said in the Skins forum:
It's amazing to me that they paid that much for a 34 year old QB who's had concussion issues. Trading Kendall Fuller - who graded out as the Skins best defensive player and has 2 more years left on a 3rd round pick contract plus trading a 3rd rounder... replacing those assets is going to cost more than any cost savings from not signing Cousins. They most likely were not planning on resigning Breeland - now they pretty much have to and will likely overpay for him or someone like him who's considerably worse than Fuller. These things happen when you have Bruce Allen pretending to know what he's doing as a fake GM. And reports are that there has been ZERO contact between the team and Cousins' agent since the end of the season - so the Skins didn't even due their due diligence. You trade for a 34 year old QB when you're ready to contend. The Skins don't have a starting RB, they don't have any established WR's, they don't have a 2-way TE, and they have an offensive line that couldn't begin to stay healthy last season. And they just traded away their highest graded defensive player. They are not a playoff contender next season. They are a terribly run football organization with a lousy future.

I agree with most of your post except for the bolded.

I actually think the Skins might be a playoff contender with a few moves.

Heck, just staying healthy would help.

Both great points. It is so hard to remain a Skins fan.

I rank the Snyder/Allen/whatever puppet GM combo lower than Ted/EG because at least the Wizards flirt with contender status. The Skins are lucky to flirt with competent team status.

Could we please send Snyder and Trump far, far away?

I was temporarily ok with this move until I heard Fuller was in the deal. He may very well have been our best asset -- young, strong, on the rise, cost-controllable. He graded out as the best slot CB in the entire NFL.

Think about it... we just traded the BEST at his position in the WORLD, plus a draft pick, for a pretty good quarterback at the end of his career. And, paid $90mm for it.

It. Boggles. The. Mind.
