Pick Up Andrew Bogut?

Post#1 » by King Roosk » Thu Jan 25, 2018 9:02 pm

Thoughts on claiming Bogut off waivers after the trade deadline?

I feel like he would only solidify our C rotation, and he would give us an extra body against teams like SA and OKC.

I'd be all for it. That or a PG. Either way.

CP3 and Bogut have some bad history on the court.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

If he can still get away with those moving screens then I'm all for it.

Can we also sign Deron Williams as our 12th man / final guard to round out the roster? D-Will is definitely over the hill, but I’d rather have him than Bobby Brown. Would also be funny to see him be 3rd string behind CP.

Can't believe they want to bring back Mr. Telephone man! Bogut anyday over him.

They are both professionals and they should leave that in the past
When you put on that jersey, the name on the front is more important then the name on the back.

Ok. That'd be HILARIOUS.

Bogut and the team has bad history dating back to the Mark Jackson/Draymond Goon episode of 2013.

But in the NBA time heals wounds and winning trumps all.
The real question is, after forgettable stops in Dallas, Cleveland, and L.A., what does Bogut have left in the tank that would benefit the Rockets?

Bogut’s value comes in the form of a big body who can man-up against guys like Steve Adams and Gasol/Aldridge in the playoffs (also would’ve added Boogie before the injury). Keep in mind he’d be a 3rd string C, so we’re only talking spot minutes for specific defensive matchups. Especially for games where Nene rests and Tarik Black’s lack of size hurts us.

He’s not what he was, but I think he can be valuable. He was on awful Dallas and LA teams, and he got hurt in his first game with CLE, so I don’t think it’s fair to assess him based on those cases.

I didn't realize he was 33 until just now.
For some reason I figured he was maybe 28-29?
He was drafted in 2005???
Ugh.

He was drafted the same year as Chris Paul. Bogut went #1. Paul went #4

Greg Monroe was bought out. Wouldn't mind him as an emergency big man.

Probably going to be a bit costly for us, but that'd be amazing.

The last 3 years or so have been a blink for me. I've been so busy that I have absolutely no idea where they went.
It seriously seems like they were actually about 6 months or less.

CF has insider info that Bogut wanted to join the Rockets but Morey told him to wait till after the trade deadline
it seems like Morey is hoping Lakers buyout Lopez

Jameer Nelson traded to Bulls, could be available for trade or buyout. Paul's groin still sore.

Hard to see him changing his mind on the amount of minutes they have to offer when healthy, which is none. He would be great though.
