Not a contract year for Smith next year. Expect his numbers to drop.

Sign Cousins. Trade the first pick to 5 with Denver. Bradley Chubb or Barkley should be there. Trade up one spot to 3 using a fourth round pick. Trade down with the Bills for three first round picks. This year:fifth, twenty first, and twenty second pick. 2019:Denver's first round pick, Buffalo's first round pick, and their own. That's how you build a Championship contender very quickly.

The experts who like Darnold have also watched him and many Browns fans who like Darnold have watched him. No matter how many times humans have been wrong about quarterback prospects we continue thinking we'll be right the next time.

they passed on watson twice :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Injured once or twice in college and once in the pros. I wouldn't jump on the Deshaun Watson bandwagon at this point.

I dont think Barkley makes it past the Colts.. he's in the Zeke/Fournette mold of RBs that bring instant credibility to a run game. I think the Browns have done enough trading down.. get Cousins, take Barkley, then BPA at 4. Which will most likely be after 2 QBs are chosen. If Barkley isn't on the board, I think Indy cashes out and someone moves up to take Allen/Darnold/Rosen.

But the 4 is the pick I'd trade out of if I were CLE. Denver obviously wants a QB so someone will be willing to leapfrog them. My guess would be the Jets (#6) but if the Browns were willing to go lower, I think they could walk away with a haul from someone like Miami (#11), Cincinatti (#12), Arizona (#15), Buffalo (#21 & 22), or Jacksonville (#29). I'd target Buffalo:

#21, #22, 2019 2nd for #4

#1 Saquon Barkley
#21 Donte Jackson (CB, LSU)
#22 Rashaan Smith (ILB, Bama)

All of a sudden..

QB: Cousins / Kizer / Kessler
HB: Barkley / Duke (3D)
WR: Gordon / Coleman / Higgins
TE: Njoku / DeValve
LT: Thomas
LG: Bitonio
C: Tretter
RG: Zeitler
RT: Coleman

LE: Ogbah/Nassib
DT: Shelton / Coley / Larry O / Brantley
RE: Garrett
OLB: Kirksey / Collins
ILB: R. Smith
CB: McCourty / Jackson / BBC / Taylor
FS: Peppers
SS: Kindred

And thats without whoever they draft in round 2/3 (33, 35, 63, 65)

Cousins is the key here. They have to sell Cousins on coming to Cleveland.. and frankly, Hue, Gordon, Njoku, Coleman, and Barkley would be a hell of a start. I dont know that any of the other teams looking for a QB offer that kind of offensive upside. Maybe the Giants, if they draft Barkley 2nd. Certainly not the Broncos, Jets, Dolphins, or Cardinals..

That’s exactly what I think will happen. The Browns will simply outbid all interested teams.

I will guarantee you one thing. If Dak Prescott has a year close to his 2016 season, he will not go into his fourth season without a new deal in his hand. That is about as close to a nut bet as there is in the world.

I don’t think he goes into his 4th year without a new contract regardless if he balls out or not. I think if he’s having a good year next season they will extend him by mid-season.

I believe it’s a no-brainer. And - I believe he will rebound nicely next season and earn that new contract.

I really hope the coaches help him out. Right now I can’t say I’m that optimistic that they can.

That’s why you do it. They can spend a high pick and draft a guy that might become a good QB in a couple of years or they can sign a guy that you know is a good QB. You get him an OL with the second of the 1st rounders and they should be a lot better next year. It really will all come down to the coaching. Talent won’t be an issue with them.

I’d rather take the risk on the unknown than make a guy who has never won a playoff game the highest paid player in the NFL.

i'm going to guess you don't think the vikes should go after cousins?
