No I understand just fine.

Next season cap space is important on the trade front. Teams will want to get under the luxury tax. Taking more money back than you send out makes you an attractive trade partner for those teams.. Especially with Koufos, Temple, and Randolph all on expiring deals.

I get the free up salary to take on others via trade and that makes sense

Exactly. Welcome aboard.

Z BO will likely be traded this season . If not then traded next season.

Do you really think Koufos is opting out? He isn't getting more than $8million next season. Cap space is pretty sparse for the 2018 offseason and the C market is dry imo. Sure, I think Koufos deserves more than $8million but I just don't think he will get it. He will be better off waiting for 2019 when there is more money out there. Heck, the Kings might be on the up&up at that time. That might mean he could secure more money long term with the Kings.

I think Temple is either traded or he stays and signs a long contract a less $ per year. I don't see him getting a lucrative contract at his age.

Agreed with Koufos, I don't see him opting out. He won't be getting more than that in free agency so he'll definitely opt in.

Honestly, the only vets I think are getting traded this year are Hill and possibly Vince Carter. I really don't see us trading Zbo (this season at least), Temple or Koufos even though that would be the right move.

Wait in the conversation with me you tried to discredit my arguement by saying Koufos will opt out... Now in this convo he opts in?

Yes I am sure Koufas will opt out . He may not get much more than what we are paying but he will go to a team were he can get more playing time on a playoff team . He can get a deal 10-12 million per season on a 2-3 year deal . I have no doubt about that .
Kings won't make to big of a push to resign him if he opts out as well have enough bigs as it is .

I agree with you that if Koufos opts out, the Kings won't make much of a push for him. I just don't see him opting out. It's ok for us to be on opposite views here. I disagree that he opts out. He has more to lose if he opts out in my opinion. If he can find a team that will give him a long term contract at $6 million per year, then he should opt out. Otherwise, he would be foolish to go.

I won't be surprised if the Kings don't make a single move at the deadline. This team was put together to help develop the young guys. Unless a can't miss deal comes along, I think this team stays together. Just my opinion.

Update :

I was just texted minutes ago that Kings and Cavs are talking still however Denver has tossed around a deal that involves them sending us a potential 1st round pick . Though a deal may not happen with either team the impression I am getting is either Clevland offers us a 1st and get a deal done or we move on to a deal likely with Denver .

I do know that the Jazz and a handful of other teams have interest in Hill .

I can also confirm Kings are talking with the Bucks , Blazers & Pelicans about Koufas as well .

Mavs are still hot for Skal but I don't see that happening .

LeBron rumors swirling today. Warriors, Spurs, Heat, ect...

I'm sure Cavs fears have grown. If the Cavs were unwilling to trade for Hill before I can't see them doing it now.

Anything is possible I guess but the odds dont look good.

I just don’t like the package they were offering. We need a first to do that trade. We would also need to part with another player (likely Carter). If we end up doing something, I feel like it’s going to be a total surprise.

Unfortunately the market for our vets is soft, especially with other vets like Greg Monroe and Tony Allen being bought out.

I’m sure this is the deal the Kings are pushing for. I don’t think the Cavs view Hill and his contract worthy of their 1st. If they’re going after DeAndre and the Brooklyn pick isn’t in play their own 1st would be the only asset that gets them close to DeAndre.

Their 1st might not be that great TBH unless someone falls for no reason. The back half of the 20's is a bit like last year where deep into the 2nd round it's all about what team likes whom. I don't see any consensus picks at the moment so like with the Kings drafting Mason, a 2nd rounder might have more value in the end.

The sticking point sounded like Hill not taking a buyout which I think is stupid on Clevelands part. That's going to break off a deal when you are trying to win a ring? Ridiculous if true and the eventual falloff of the Cavs this season is well deserved.

They're first shouldn't even begin to get them close to Jordan. If Doc traded him for that on the heels of that Griffin deal then he's toast.

A few things...

I don't agree with the bolded portion. a pick in the second half of the first could net you OG Anunoby or Kyle Kuzma or Terrance Ferguson. It's all in how you pick.

And Jerry West is making the picks for the Clippers.

Or it could net you many of the other players drafted there that don't stick. Like I said, there is no consensus that deep so the value isn't guaranteed. For instance, if the Kings had a pick in that range last year they would have most likely taken Mason anyway.

I was hoping y'all would start behaving, but that sadly hasn't been the case. Disagreements happen and are even encouraged, but mocking users is NOT permitted.

As promised, we've skipped warnings and have gone straight to suspensions. All it takes is just a whiff. The next step will be permanent bans.

Thank you.

If that's true the Clips would certainly be more likely to land the pick right?

Wouldn't be enough for me if I were them, Cavs would have to pony up more & all they have is the BKN pick which is overpay.

But maybe somehow between the 3 teams the Clips can land the BKN pick, while we got the 2018 Detroit pick from Clipper land.

If LeBron is leaving I'm not trading the Brooklyn pick for Jordan because he has a player option for next season. At 29 years old Jordan would be wise to opt out and get a long term deal.
