So to prove a point about how much better Mitchell makes the team play you're going to cite the amount of times he scored more than 25 points?

There's always a deviation between stats from basketball reference and nbawowy, IIRC nbawowy attempts to count the possessions and basketball reference uses an estimation for it.

The difference is minimal in this case, but I was responding to Cappy_Smurf's comment that the Jazz are a much better team with DM on the court. Which isn't really supported by the data, certainly not by listing the amount of games with more than 25 points scored.

Ben Simmons has been absolutely fantastic lately. Very efficient shooting nights and the nonchalant turnovers are trending down. Perimeter shooting by the wings have been putrid lately, otherwise there would have been some big assist numbers as well.

What do you mean? They play against the same teams, only difference is Tatum has much better team. If anything, this makes eveything much easier for him.

Ya I gotta say I was expecting Tatum to have a much lower FG% than 46%. If 46% from the floor while still playing good defense at 19 is you hitting the wall, that's pretty good.

2 things:

Mitchell has a longer than average wing span, which is more important than heigth.

Also, I think he will be the future PG for Utah. He can create for others when he needs to, but Utah's offense doesn't run through a primary ball handler most of the time, so it doesn't really matter.

On the offensive end, there's no reason why Mitchell won't play PG. Defensively, Utah has made a point of looking for length at every position. Even though Mitchell is fine at SG with his wing span, he has a bigger advantage defending PGs.

As long as Rubio is in Utah, DM will most likely play the 2, but I think he's just as likely to play PG in the future.

Two guys that have really developed from where they were in college are Mitchell and Tatum. Both obviously worked very hard in the off-season but Mitchell especially has progressed during the season as well. That's the reason why scouts pay close attention to "intangibles" with prospects - how much they love the game and how hard they are prepared to work. Both players also are super-valuable, not just in terms of the Celtics and the Jazz knowing where they stand with them, and thus can build around them, but also in terms of what they offer in terms of versatility. Mitchell especially looks comfortable both off-ball and on-ball; while he's probably not quite ready yet to shoulder the full load of being the primary guy given his rate of development we can pretty safely pencil that in for him in future. While I'm less hopeful for Tatum in this regard he's still been outstanding.

I guess the 46 is the 2PT%, he was 41.9% from the floor in January. But overall FG% kind of useless anyway, if he shot 90% of his attempts from deep than 41.9% is extraordinary good.

I think I've seen around 5 games of Tatum in January and in those games the difficulty of his shots are increasing, but I must say that my worries about finishing around length were more apparent last month.
