I believe the rookie wall is a thing - but given his PT compared to other rookies - they should be hitting the wall before Luke. It's probably Stan and his ridiculous demands and short leash on young players that has him over thinking every step he takes.

We better hope a post-deadline veteran chooses to come here because we can offer them a starting gig the ROS.

Have you seen how hard Luke's Dukie brother, Jayson Tatum has fell in January?

Yes, after playing 30 mpg for 50 games, tatum hit the wall. Luke's not going to play that many minutes all season.

I want to see Drummond back to doing more DHOs at the top of the key but this time I want Griffin getting the DHO to drive to the rim. That will be extremely difficult to guard since both opposing big men are away from the rim Griffin is great off the dribble.

Langston should start until Reggie is back and just let Blake run point :D

That's not a bad idea considering our spacing issues. It also gives Galloway another chance to boost his value and boosts our bench by putting Ish with the bench unit.

Buycks should start at PG, he did well scoring. The second unit could really use smith again, they need someone to move the ball

Tatum fell off pretty much right at the start of the new year, which was at the 40 game mark for him.

Luke's minutes have increased every month of the season so far.

So if not's the rookie wall, what are we left with? Luke isn't ready for a bigger role? He's not good enough to be leaned on yet? There's now a scouting report on him, so teams have learned how to more effectively guard him?

I think Luke is simply just a rookie. Rookies are inconsistent. That's all.

Yeah, there's a lot of merit to that.

Still Luke was pretty dang solid all the way up until Stan stated he was going to start running more stuff for Luke and asking more out of him. With the increased role and minutes bump, Luke has started to struggle pretty badly.

I think he'll be fine. His shot hasn't been falling lately, but I thought he actually still played pretty well Tuesday against the Cavs... he was the only bench guy not to have a negative +/- fwiw. The Memphis game was bad, no doubt about it.. but the whole bench has been struggling lately.

I'm hoping that once the rotations are straightened out and the new guys are all acclimated, he'll bounce back. He was looking good just a week or two ago when he had 4 straight games of double digit scoring.

Yeah, I'm not writing him off or saying he's trash.

Just making mention that his struggles started about the same time Stan stated he wanted to give Luke a bigger role. Whether its the rookie wall, growing pains, not being ready for a bigger role, opposing team's adjustments, a combination of any of those or something else entirely, whatever it is its not working right now. Detroit needs Luke more than they've had, as he is now a top 3 wing.
