Re: Future Draft Games
Thanks!
I suggested some like the 2nd banana draft, Total Wins Draft, Speed Limit, No #1s, Good Stats Bad Team and beat MJ (which I already know is unpopular so scratch that one) so I'm naturally interested in all those. I also brought up a 50 FGA draft, again unpopular but if you want to list it.
Other than that I like
- 2nd best franchise draft - Could make it you can't take the franchise they played the most games for. It might be top heavy though.
- All-Defense only - we decided this would be best with team-ups to get it down to 8 teams
- Picking outside of top 3/5
- Zodiac draft

Re: Future Draft Games
This deserves a bump.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Re: Future Draft Games
I like decades each round, choose 2 players from each decade. ABBA, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s.
Have to choose player's max WS year - so no MJ in 90s, no Magic in 80s

Have to choose player's max WS year - so no MJ in 90s, no Magic in 80s
That decades games has been done without the ABBA when we started doing these games in the beginning.

The point is you choose 2 players each round. The 'ABBA' is just Pick order

oh my bad haha I thought you said ABA, but yeah selecting 2 players than 1 player would be different. There would be probably need to be some sort of restriction since earlier picks will have some crazy duos starting out.

Re: Future Draft Games
I think these three ideas have been the most discussed in the other thread, but never came to fruition that may peak your interest. Also, trading was a big topic as well in these games!
1) Loyalty Draft (drafting players who have been on one or only teams)..we have done one with players who have been on three or more teams if i recall
2) 35% from 3 in the chosen season with at least 1 attempt per game
3) Drafting from certain teams only that aren't common

I'd forgotten the 35% from three idea. It did have some support and I like it personally.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Seems like I'm in the minority as I just don't get the appeal of the 35% from three idea. It's an aspect of the game that we focus on more than enough as it is.
Of those three ideas the loyalty draft is the most interesting to me. (Although I can't recall the details of that third one.)

I'm with you on that. As for the third one, it was actually your idea that intrigues me as well..I don't think it has been done if I recall..
So I've been thinking about how we could make the single franchise idea more inclusive, and the simple idea I came up with to just do another version excluding all the franchises that are being used now. Based on the current NBA, that would leave the following franchises still available:
- Atlanta Hawks
- Charlotte Hornets
- Cleveland Cavaliers
- Dallas Mavericks
- Denver Nuggets
- Detroit Pistons
- Houston Rockets
- Indiana Pacers
- LA Clippers
- Memphis Grizzles
- Minnesota Timberwolves
- New Orleans Pelicans
- Orlando Magic
- Sacramento Kings
- Utah Jazz
- Washington Wizards
In terms of players, you're still looking at being able to pick the following (among others):
- MJ
- Shaq
- LeBron
- Hakeem
- KG
- Dirk
- Walton
- Moses
- Mailman
- Oscar
- T-Mac
- Barkley
- Paul
- Ewing
- Stockton
- Nash
- Drexler
- Reggie
- Howard
- AD
- Kidd
- Harden
- Penny
- Frazier
- Mutombo
Pairing superstars in this setup will be a lot more difficult though, and you might be able to overcome to impact of an MJ or a Shaq with the depth of a "lesser" franchise. Could mix things up nicely.
