If thats correct, no way is George a DPOY as as some think.
If PG wasnt playing and Robertson was we would see the same thing. You cant cover for Mello and Westbrook with just Adams and one wing. You need 3 good defenders to have a good defense.
Westbrook, Anthony, Adams + George:

Westbrook, Anthony, Adams + Roberson:

The main thing is the defensive scheme: Roberson has been the Thunder's cleanup crew for years. While Russ tried to poke the ball away and jogged after a play, Roberson covered both his and Russ' man in the same play. He rotated constantly and was always doing something that disrupted the opponent's offense. Paul George is basically the cherry on top with Roberson and Adams anchoring the defense, roaming, disrupting plays, getting deflections, etc.
Now that Roberson is out, our whole scheme doesn't work anymore because Josh 'I belong in the G-League' Huestis is the only guy who comes close to him defensively and Westbrook and Anthony still don't defend. Donovan tho has not adjusted the defense and that's why they can't defend. They still switch everything without there being a need to, they still don't rotate properly, they still don't keep guys in front of them.
Per stats.nba.com, Melo guarded Harden for 13 possessions last night. He got 4 2pt FGM and 3 assists for 3 3s out of that. That's 1.31 PPP on those plays. What the **** is that? Why are you doing that? Are you trying to lose the game? Why are you putting your worst defender on an island against the best isolation scorer in the league? That's just asking to lose.
"I don't know of any player that, when the shot goes up, he doesn't want it to go in," Donovan said
