Couldn't agree more. It's nice to have continuity and a young players we can get vested in and our team can develop them. I think with the right coach and development, Jackson, Chriss and Bender can all turn into nice players. It's nice to see young players getting so much time. I think with gradual development and continued chemistry and the right draft additions, we can grow into a nice team that can compete. Add a FA at the right time. Maybe make a trade. Don't get all excited every time someone is mentioned they are on the block. They may be on the block for a good reason.

Jackson's been a different player since he was benched. Dragan's been much improved since he was called out in the media for being too passive - outplayed Gobert IMO when they were matched up at C last night. This is what we need to keep doing.

JC, bw and myself are outspoken members of Team Stay the Course. But I think all three of us are ready for the FO to make moves this summer. During the summer. This summer. Not now.

When teams are trying to trade their RFAs, it means they know they won't match market in 5 months. We're the market.

That's too bad. And he played well.

Very disappointing. Chriss shows such bright flashes and then disappears, usually due to foul trouble. Now this. Don't go down the dark path, Quese. That's the way to losing big money and playing time.

I think Smart fits well with this team. Great defense and pretty good passer. That said I would never trade a thing for him. Boston is shopping because they don't want to pay him in the offseason. I'd rather just pay him then, after we make our draft selections, and if we don't get him no big deal.

Everyone is enamored with Trae Young. If we ended up picking him then I almost feel like we would need to sign Smart to make up for our dreadful defense. It's the only reason I'm starting to jump off the Trae Young bandwagon. I don't want rookie guards dropping 40 on us anymore because we've got nobody in the backcourt that knows how to defend.

http://bkref.com/tiny/sjppJ

Not that I'm sure I want either...certainly not enough to trade assets for if we can just give them a RFA offer.

Gordon is more than just a tad better defensively than Parker. Jabari is one of the worst defenders in the league at his position and Gordon at the worst can hold his own.

I'd only take Parker if it was for cheap.

in DRPM last year, considering they both played, Gordon ranked 67th in PFs for DRPM while Parker ranked 73rd. So however you want to classify that I guess. One of our own PFs was last though. http://www.espn.com/nba/statistics/rpm/_/year/2017/page/2/sort/DRPM/position/6 You are right about Parker being one of the worst, but so was Gordon.

This year Gordon is the 84th best PF in DRPM. http://www.espn.com/nba/statistics/rpm/_/page/3/sort/DRPM/position/6

So whatever you want to call it, it's not good, and being that bad defensively is not the type of guy a bad defensive team should want to pay max or near max money to.

Not that I want Parker, either..never been a big fan but liked him better last year when his 3pt shot got a lot better.

Defensive RPM is a very flawed stat. I know you’re a big fan of the RPM stat but DRPM is often regarded by many within the NBA circles including Zach Lowe and such as being flawed and doesn’t tell the whole story.

Even on RealGM here, many of th advanced stats pundits were bashing on the DRPM stat in a thread just few months back.

I’ve watched Aaron Gordon play and I can assure he’s much better than the #84 best defensive PF in the league.

Pretty much.

To me, its pretty bad if he needs cooling off time by not going to practice and not going to the game.

Yup definitely not the first time he has acted out either, his body language just screams disrespectful on the court and when coming off.

Not to jump to conclusions but it seems like he has a thing when it comes to criticism from coaches, where as when Booker sat down with him his play improved and he was more receptive towards it.

Not sure what he's going to command this summer.
Defensively we could use him. But would he stagnate our offense? What kind of PG is he? Can he pass?

I would rather go after Terry Rozier. He’s not as good as Smart defensively but can hold his own. He’s also much, much better offensively than Smart.

I’d trade Ulis & Bucks pick for him.

Yeah wouldn’t want a guy like that here despite his defensive ability.

Only our very own Josh Jackson is shooter a lower % than him this season among players with at least 4000 shot attempts

It's up to McD to figure out the shooting.
It won't be popular but maybe have Knight starting since he's a good shooter with Smart off the bench. That's also depending on how much Smart will command.

“You talk about Marcus Smart, he’s a player that’s available for a first round pick. If a team was willing to give Boston a first, Boston would look at,” Woj said in the latest edition of his podcast with Bobby Marks. “If they didn’t have to take back a lot of money going out in the future. He’s restricted this summer, you don’t know what it will cost to keep him.” “He’s proven he can help you win a playoff game or two. He doesn’t shoot great from 3-point line, some of the things you want from a guard in this day and age. He defends, he’s super competitive. But they can’t pay everybody in Boston and they’re going to have to make decisions. But does a team want to give up a first for a player when they don’t know what it will cost to keep him. I’m not sure that will happen. But I think certainly if they were going to make a move with one of their core guys, there’s potential that it’s going to be Smart.”

I like Smart but we already have our confident bad shooter in JJ.

This 100%. I get this team sucks at d but improving it with nonshooters is not the answer. Give me someone who can so both. Oh and booker giving the slightest **** on that side of the ball would help. When your best player dogs it on that end it sets a terrible example.

Go into the offseason with our 1st (Top 5), Bucks 1st (NOW 11-25), Celtics 1st (#28).

No big moves. Just little ones that net us young cheap players for our future.

Any lineup that includes Len or Ulis means we have not addressed our most pressing issues. Don't waste space on Smart ... we need a 3-D guy and Smart isn't even a 2-D guy. I guess he makes 75% of his free throws so he is 1-D.

Didn't mcD try to trade for Gordon last season? I feel like the FO already know they like him, and being an AZ product he is definitely all over this - this will be the big asset consolidation he has been waiting for. Doors will be closed on this one so all the stuff Gambo is saying is just his own hot air (no one with any sense is giving up a top 5 pick for a RFA).

I think McD is talking to Gordon's people to try and lock in a ballpark figure for what he wants in order to stay in the desert. If we can get a slight hometown discount in the area of $18-20m per, you bet we are pulling the trigger.

I personally think Booker will pick up his defense when the town calls to arms. Right now with PG duties along with facing double and triple teams at times he just cant carry that load.
