Awards are being handed out tonight.
The winners we know so far:
COY: Sean McVay (Rams)
Offensive POY: Todd Gurley (Rams)
Defensive POY: Aaron Donald (Rams)
ROY: Alvin Kamara (Saints)
Offensive ROY: Alvin Kamara (Saints)
Defensive ROY: Marshon Lattimore (Saints)
Comeback Player of the Year: Keenan Allen (Chargers)
My thoughts so far:
How in the world did McVay win over Pederson?
How in the world did Gurley win over Brady for Offensive POY?
Are people seriously saying that Gurley is a better offensive player, or is more responsible for his team's offense than Brady? I get that they want to reward RBs and get bored of just QBs being discussed, but this isn't close. Also, doesn't this essentially mean that Gurley is going to win MVP...wouldn't make a whole lot of sense if Gurley wins OPOY, but then loses MVP to another offensive player.
And Pederson led his team to the #1 seed with his top 10 QB down with a season-ending injury. Foles came in and won them the game against the Rams in which Wentz got hurt, and then won two more games without Wentz and clinched the #1 seed, before the Eagles mailed in the last game. Better record without his starting QB for the last few games...that should be Pederson's award imo.

Offensive player of the year is routinely awarded as a consolation prize for losing MVP. No need to overthink it; that's just the way it is.

Gurley had a great season, definitely deserved something.
Rob Riggle is kind of sucking though.

Re: NFL Awards Discussion
i don't have a problem with mcvay winning coach of the year, no one thought the rams would do anything this year and he got them to 10 wins - with a bunch of the same key players (goff, gurley)
pederson did a fantastic job as well, and people probably didn't expect too much from the eagles but i think they had more hope than the rams. more people believed in wentz than goff anyway. as for navigating the end of the season with foles to the 1 seed, that is impressive but it wasn't like they roared back to get it, they were already there and just held on to it
i'm not sure when the voting took place but its possible a lot of people cast their ballot before the end of the season

Drew Brees had a higher passer rating than Brady. We haven't seen what the Saints are like without Brees while we have seen what the Patriots are like without Brady(3-1 last year, 1-1 with their rookie third string quarterback). I'd argue Brees got screwed more than Brady.

Brady has better advanced stats than Brees, and he led a better offense than Brees.

Yup. The duo of Ingram/Kamara are honestly more deserving than Brees himself.

Re: NFL Awards Discussion
Don't agree with Brady as the MVP. But I thought they got everything else right.
