the backlash to kd's departure is deeply rooted in uncomfortable connections to non-hetero affect between non-hetero couples and the viewer's connection to those couplings. it makes people uncomfortable to realize that kd and russ had a relationship, and what does it even mean for two men to have a relationship, and then what does it mean to me, mr. emotions are for women, that i have emotions tied into their emotions, and we're all a bunch of -men- with emotions.
