Other teams that could be buyers but I can't find legal deals that make sense are New Orleans, Portland, San Antonio, and Detroit

*patterson could be added if okc wants to shed salary - Salaries don't work unless you include Patterson and Atlanta can't take all those players back, We have a full roster.

Atlanta gets Frye, shump. Cleveland gets Baze - unless Atlanta is interested in just straight salary dump of Baze, sure, but I'm not sure that is the case. Baze still has on court value despite the contract

Atlanta gets Frye, shump, Thomas, Osman, zizic, rose, cavs own 18 lottery protected Clevel and gets Baze, Dennis, Babbitt - No. Baze and TT are a wash and as much as Dennis is struggling he's still 24 and locked up on a good deal, worth more to the Hawks than Cavs 1st.

Atlanta gets smith, shump, Frye, Thomas, Osman, zizic, rose, cavs 18 1st, heat 2020 2nd. Cleveland gets Dennis, Baze, Dedmon, ilyasova, Babbitt - No, anything with Smith is a pass and see above re Dennis.

Atlanta gets shump, Frye, Osman. Charlotte gets tt, smith, Thomas, cavs 18 first. Cleveland gets Batum, walker, Baze, Dedmon - No

Atlanta gets shump, Frye, Osman, Richardson. Kings get smith, Thomas, cavs 18 first. Cleveland gets hill, Baze, future Atl 2nd - why is Atlanta including a pick?, we aren't salary dumping Baze

Atlanta gets baynes, ojeleye. Boston gets ersan - Yes, but I loathe the Celtics.

Atlanta gets teletovic, Wilson, Vaughn, Bucks get Dedmon, ersan, Babbitt - No, Wilson and Vaughn to take on $10 mil of an injured player? Bucks fans don't think much of either. There is on court value of the Hawks players as well as their expiring contracts since the Bucks have a salary cap issue and nothingis offered for them.

Atlanta gets Noah, Frank n., Knicks 18 first no protection, future second. Knicks get Dennis, Marco, Houston 18 first - Knicks arent trading their pick to dump Noah

Atlanta gets bayless, Anderson, t.l.c., philly gets Dedmon, Marco, Babbitt - unless nothing else is available. I think the Hawks get more valuable in separate trades for Dedmon and Marco

Atlanta gets bayless, t.l.c., future second. Clips get Johnson, Anderson, philly own first. Philly gets Williams, Wesley j. Ersan, Marco -

Atlanta gets bayless, Johnson, Anderson, t.l.c., philly gets Baze, Dedmon, 19 second (la or wolves)

Atlanta gets smith, McCullough, Mac, 20 second. Wash gets Marco, Malcolm

Atlanta gets chandler, Arthur, hernangomez, Beasley Denver gets Baze, Marco, Babbitt, 19 second (la or wolves)
-
Atlanta gets Aldrich, Patton, Muhammad, Georges-hunt. Wolves get Baze, 19 2nd rounder - Dure
*deal could also include Bjelica for Babbitt if wolves want to shed salary

The rest I can take or leave

:D :D

This coming Thursday, February 8th. @ 3PM, Eastern time, is the trade deadline. Teams can shed, move players
after that date but it becomes more complicated.

Things that the Hawks are not shopping for: Veteran players with long, high priced contracts.

What they desire: Young, underused players that they can grow. Draft picks that they can, hopefully, turn
into that elusive super star we need so badly.

If the Hawks have a pocket full of draft picks, don't expect all these picks to become Hawks. They are like
money in the bank. What do you do with money in the bank? Hopefully, you use it to buy something you
really need. Some team or teams may have just what we need, whether it is a player or the next draft pick
up on the board. Really, it then becomes more complicated, doesn't it?

The rule we all learned, long ago, while in school: "For every action there is an opposite reaction." So it is
as Atlanta attempts to rebuild.

Every trade works through the trade machine...obviously players would have to be waived to make room but every deal works if ran thru the ESPN trade machine....I used my own judgement for both sides and where each deal put them now and in the future...the Hawks are motivated to either dump bad salary or take on bad salary for young assets or trade expiring role players for whatever young asset they can get back(2nd rounders)

Also I think I meant to give Atl a 2nd in the Cleveland and Sacramento deal, and on deals like the Bucks teletovic deal 2nds can be added...some of these trades I've tweaked so many times they all became just names by the end of it and it was hard to think about them each separately after typing them and reading back....but each of these trades are solid bases of trades that can be made...also something to remember as I forgot until I looked it up....Jr smith is basically expiring after next year...his third year is a team option(I thought it was a player beforehand) although he makes 14 next year he will be off the books and provide entertainment as a microwave scorer(assuming he isn't washed) but i also thought about tix sales a little when putting this together...obviously shumperts the better deal but smith when hot can provide a reason to tune in or buy tix to a game...definitely not the motivation for any deal in a rebuild but to say it doesn't rank at all is silly...just ask Michael Jordan why he won't blow it up(the deal above depends on him seeing Thomas, smith as guys who can provide entertainment)

Four more ideas involving Portland with the news hark less is officially on the block
Trade 1 Atlanta gets Leonard, vonleh, layman, a 1st. Portland gets Marco, ersan, Babbitt

Trade 2 Atlanta gets harkless, vonleh, two 2nds. Portland gets Marco, ersan, Babbitt

Trade 3 Atlanta gets harkless, Leonard, vonleh, layman, a 1st or two 2nds. Portland gets Baze, Marco, Babbitt

Trade 4 Atlanta gets harkless, Leonard, 1st, and 2nd. Portland gets Marco, ersan, Delaney, Babbitt
-this one I like for both…Portland dumps bad salary for expiring contracts that should help them the rest of the year.

Offering both a first rounder and a second rounder? This year?

You have our attention...

Very tempting offer. Portland's 1st pick is currently late teens. I'll assume it gets into the early to mid 20's with this trade.
Here's the thing - that is $21.3 million dollars the Hawks are taking on, which leaves us with ZERO or very little capspace going into this offseason as well as next offseason. Our GM has preached financial flexibility - that doesn't do this with 4 guys locked in at just over half the cap for the next 2 years. Unless we can move Bazemore and/or Plumlee (unlikely) - I'm concerned.

You'd have my attention with number 3. I hate Leonard's contract but getting the first (would have to be this year) and shedding Bazemore's deal is tempting.
