Magic receive multiple firsts back for a package highlighted by AG. Suns pick will most likely fall in the 5-10 range. Added to Isacc and Orlando's own top 5 pick a new core will quickly take shape for the new regime. The Knight contract isnt the albatross it once was with only two years left - especially for a team hitting reset and the contracts of Biyombo and Augustine still on the books.
Suns receive Gordon and speed up the timeline. The addition of Knight and the expiering Hezonja off-set Gordon's looming cap hold of $13.75 million allowing the Suns to maintain $25-$30 million in cap room this off-season. Vucivic is a good player that will expire in 2019 - the same year as Dudleys contract.
If I am suns I would trade
Knight, Chriss, and Miami First
for
Gordon, and Biyombo
People forget that AG is 22 yo about to finish his 4th year and already avg 18/8. He is younger than some rookies in the NBA and some coming next year. Why would Orlando trade its brightest piece?
This is all smokescreen by Hammond to see what kind of value AG is worth and what he might get on the open market.
Do you have an opinion on the OPs trade?

You think AG is worth Chriss, Bender, the Suns 2018 1st and the Miami 2018 1st? That seems aggressive.

Piecing together some of what has been suggested here:
Orl Out: Vuc, Gordon, Payton
Orl In: Knight, Chriss(or Bender), 2018 1st (top 2 protected) + 2018 MIA top 7 protected
*If 2018 PHX 1st falls in the top 2 and does not convey, ORL receives 2019 PHX 1st and 2021 MIA 1st (both unprotected). If the 2018 MIA 1st falls in the top 7 and does not convey, ORL receives the 2019 MIA 1st (unprotected).
As a Magic fan, I seriously consider this.

I wouldn't drop the protection and add a former top 10 pick.

Clearly Orlando passes on that trade. Like I said for Orlando to trade Gordon, we need a similar guaranteed Star caliber player in return. Knight and Chandler? Let's be serious ...

Lol. It's a top 10 pick and a mid first. Hardly something to scoff at.

Then that makes Payton, I believe a former #10 pick, valuable too, right?

Stop joking around dude. He means players like Hezonja that was picked at #5 have tons of value!

I think Payton has some value. Hezonja didn't have his option picked up so I don't believe he has much at all - that's why I used him as salary filler in the trade as opposed to Payton.
Not saying Chriss or Bender are worth a top 10 pick but there is a big difference between players half way through their second season and a fourth year guard who can't shoot and a third year rookie who didn't get his option picked up.
AG is good but he has really up until this point only had 2 months of stellar basketball in his career. Love the potential. But $25 million a year is a big bet.

Re: Suns Go Get Aaron Gordon
I just threw Payton in there thinking Mario wasn’t enough to get it done and figured PHX may want a PG a with an established chemistry with Vuc/Ag. Would have more than enough firepower with Booker to make up for some of the shooting deficiencies (though he’s quite good at finishing at the rim).

I'm not saying he is a sharp shooter, but 38% from 3 and 52% from the floor isnt "cant shoot"

Fair enough. That 3 point is still super suspect on that low of attempts but he has made some strides since last year.

Re: RE: Re: Suns Go Get Aaron Gordon
It's definitely aggressive. Miami's pick will be low. Phoenix would instantly get better and that pick might fall between 8-10. Orlando needs as many shots at a star as possible if they're giving up they're closest thing since Dwight Howard without a guarantee of one in return. Does Phoenix feel strong enough ties to either of those guys to hold up that trade, Chriss or Bender?jredsaz wrote:DoItALL9 wrote:I think Chriss & Bender need to be added to Orlando's return

A one year top 3 protection might be fair so late in the year but next year would need to be unprotected.

I don't think I feel strong enough about a $25 million a year AG. I would probably substitute Chriss or Bender or Milwaukee pick or 2018 Miami pick but I wouldnt give any two of them along with the Suns first - top 3 protected.
The Miami pick isn't too far from the lottery as it stands.
None are a guaranteed star but - I have to ask - what all star has been traded in the last 2 years for another garunteed star? That doesn't really happen.

Re: Suns Go Get Aaron Gordon
Why should the Suns trade their own pick for Gordon when they can sign him outright to a contract offer in 3 months? If Orlando is shopping him then it means they aren’t serious about matching a max for him anyway.
Not that Aaron Gordon is actually worth the max contract either.

AG would accelerate the timeline. He looks like he could develop into an all star caliber player. Trading for him now secures his talent moving forward. He will most likely be better over the next five years than anyone they could draft at 6 or worse in this draft.
