Get all you can from the Bucks for Hassan
Move JJ for whatever
Move TJ for whatever
The timing/optics arent great for this but if the right deal is on the table move Dragic too
Attach Ellington to any of the aforementioned deals so we arent sitting here a year from now talking about the same thing

Dragic peaked last season. Get him for something while his value is still solid.

Dragic/Hassan for any combination of picks and young players.

Re: What say you : Board poll on leading Heat trades rumors **POLL* (5 days to deadline)
Have no idea how they should go about it. Dragic's good value on a good contract that you likely won't get equal value in return for. He's got 2 yrs left on contract and probably won't return afterwards so maybe it would be okay to take a loss and get some late and/or future late picks in return?
Hassan's a good player but it's hard to see him having a prolonged stay for several reasons. Main ones being his age and max status. Max talent but too old not to have max consistency
TJ, I like him and don't see the immediate need to dump his contract, not like Heat's competing for much longer than 2-3 rounds but if the need for space comes...
Ellington's the difference between us being an 8th or less seed and 4th but can we really count on him being this good over the course of a lengthy contract? I say trade and get value now but not opposed to trying to keep him on a good contract
Winslow, I still think he's one of the first assets draped in bate oil if an enticing deal comes along, fo will do what they want.
Rest of the trades are by ear I guess

You're overdoing it IMO, gutting half the roster of a good HCA level team.

For example - no need to move TJ and Ellington if you're already cleared the salaries of JJ and Hassan

Anything that will make us better. I dont care about saving Mickey any money. He is a super rich bastard & can afford it.
Anyone who wants to save money over putting out the best team possible should sell that team to someone who actually want to win.

I disagree. People hate Waiters but he's a better scorer than TJ and his contract is nowhere near as toxic. We can plug and play with any of these guys especially if we are getting young talent in return. Also we can't call ourselves a HCA level team, we're one loss away from the 7th seed.

If we do anything it should be moving older players to make room for younger cheaper ones and draft picks. JJ, Dragic, Whiteside. These guys were our best players, but instead of improving, they've all regressed in various ways. Somehow we're still winning more than losing ... but I can't figure out how Spo is doing it with these guys leading the team.

I think we get rid of Hammons with a second pick and some cash & get a free roster spot and use the Injury thing we got for waiters on a player that will be bought out after the trade deadline. I don't see us doing any mayor shakeups... Maybe the Winslow one from the poll if we get a good offer, which I doubt.

Winslow for Mario Hezonja. Much better player now and much, much higher ceiling. The Magic have no control over Hezonja so they may bite?

Re: What say you : Board poll on leading Heat trades rumors **POLL* (5 days to deadline)
Great topic. I say add Middleton and then assess at the offseason.
The Heat desperately need some offense and Middleton would work well next to Jrich. JJ and TJ are great bench players, nothing more should be asked of them. Bam is going to be a great talent and the Heat can sign Willie Reed in the offseason for some minutes at backup C. Middleton alone is not going to make the Heat a title contender, but he will make the Heat more competitive to acquire such championship talent.

Re: What say you : Board poll on leading Heat trades rumors **POLL* (5 days to deadline)
My first choice it still to find a way to get Tyreke Evans. This team desperately needs a playmaker. However, this move would also require a salary dump to free up the cap space to resign him. In that scenario would probably need to ship out Dragic in order to dump TJ.
I'm warming up to the idea of Khris Middleton. He's not a creator per se, but his floor spacing and length would seem to be a great fit for our small ball lineups. I actually think Hassan would fit well with Milwaukee. He's honestly not fully utilized here because we don't have playmakers who open up lobs for him.

Re: What say you : Board poll on leading Heat trades rumors **POLL* (5 days to deadline)
Blow it up sky high. We peaked already. Downhill from here. Possibly missing playoffs entirely.
Trade Hassan for picks/expiring/young player with no major injury history
Trade Dragic- expirings and pick
TJ-attach a second rounder and hand him to Brooklyn for expirings
JJ-salary dump
Trade Ellington before we lose him for nothing or overpay.
Do not trade for: Parker, Carroll, Batum etc etc
Do not trade for anyone not living up to their contract. Do not trade for anyone taking too much salary space.
Do trade for the biggest expirings
Do trade for picks
Lottery time for a few seasons. Seasons in which we weren’t gonna win anyways. Ride out the Warriors storm in the lottery draft. When it’s safe to come outside and play, we will have had 2-4 top 10 picks. Massive amounts of salary space etc etc
Only guys allowed to stay are: Jrich, Bam, Justice, Kelly.
Next season Showcase Waiters and Dump.
Any other route we take, lands us squarely on the treadmill. Doing more harm than good.

Re: What say you : Board poll on leading Heat trades rumors **POLL* (5 days to deadline)
We need to clear a roster space. I'm not afraid of having enough $$$ to sign Wayne Ellington (I already wrote a lot about this before), but this is the case of selling high.
I'm also not concerned about JJ or TJ's contracts despite their reduced production and TJ's impending salary explosion. We can't do anything about the first issue, and we've known the second issue is a problem for next season for a while now.
Of your other options, I don't want to trade Dragic, Whiteside, or Winslow. I don't think their value is very high. I'm more inclined to trade Wayne Ellington because we'd be selling high. The only problem is that Wayne's shooting has decreased in efficiency enough to not be as high as any of us hope.
I'd like to see us sign Derrick Jones, Jr, however, his deal isn't worth trading any asset away.
We do have a player we aren't using (A.J. Hammons) but we either need to waive him (which will impact next season's salary cap too) or package him with another player and receive one back. We would need to trade two players for one. 76ers, Raptors, Clippers, Lakers, Pacers, Rockets, Pelicans, Hornets, Wizards, Wolves, Thunder, Blazers, and Magic all have an open roster space.
I think we'll waive Hammons and sign Derrick Jones, Jr. That would be the end of the Josh McRobert trade. Exhale.
If we package Ellington and Hammons together and return a large expiring contract, we could reduce salary for next season (by taking part of this season's on, especially from a tax team like Portland) and get a roster space, but I don't think it's worth it. That's why I'd just waive Hammons.

There's not even a chance at a Warriors breakup for at least a couple more years so there's no point in keeping anyone who isn't going to be here after that. Like Dragic, Whiteside, Ellington, either Johnson, etc.
I'm not a fan of tanking but I want to see something for the future. At least trade for younger players. 2 old for 1 young or something.

Re: What say you : Board poll on leading Heat trades rumors **POLL* (5 days to deadline)
Here is one "blow it up" scenario.
Dragic to Philly for an expiring (Amir Johnson or Trevor Booker), TJ Mcconell and a first. Sixers do this because they are close to contending and need a veteran PG before Fultz is ready. For us this gets us a pick and creates a ton of cap relieft (around $17mm).
Whiteside, Wayne and Tyler to Milwaukee for Middleton, Henson and a pick. Milwaukee does this because it nets them Whiteside (who should be a great fit next to Giannis), plus shooting to surround Giannis with. Middleton is a good player and getting rid of Tyler gives us cap relief (this saves us $22mm next year)
Then send one of the aforementioned picks to Memphis for Tyreke Evans, who we now have the cap space to resign.
2018-1019
PG Tyreke, Mcconell
SG Richardson, McGruder
SF Middleton, Winslow
PF Olynyk, JJ
C Bam, Henson
And we still have one of the two draft picks left to replace the one we send to Phoenix. That's a much more explosive offensive team IMO that fits the modern NBA.
Is this unrealistic? Maybe we need to throw in Winslow into one of these deals. Milwaukee might also not be willing to take on quite that much salary. Might have to take Teletovic instead of Henson.
