GT #53: Wizards @ Indiana Pacers 7:00 PM (NBCSWA/1500 AM)

Post#1 » by Kanyewest » Mon Feb 5, 2018 6:36 am

“Everybody eats. Everybody has success. Everybody gets a touch,” Bradley Beal explained once again (in a tone implying that you better not take this out of context and diss my teammate John Wall) after the Wizards’ 115-98 win over the Magic on Saturday night. "Everybody shoots the ball. Everybody plays defense. Everybody rebounds."

Bradley Beal flirted with a triple double with 19 points, 8 assists, and 8 rebounds and probably would have gotten it had he played in the 4th quarter. Tomas Satoransky had another strong game converting 7-9 field goals for a career high 21 points and limited Elfrid Payton to 15 points in 24 minutes, who averaged 28.5 ppg in the prior two matchups against the Wizards. All 5 starters posted double figures including Marcin Gortat who had a double double after many fans called for him to be traded due to some controversial tweets about "team" wins.

Remember when Gortat used to stick up for his point guard on PTI?

Washington perhaps faces the toughest test in the Sato era of him starting as a point guard in 2017-18 where he's 4-0. This will be the Wizards first game against an above .500 team on the road. Victor Oladipo has been putting up even more impressive numbers than Bradley Beal so far this season and could be a candidate for an all-NBA team. The Pacers have also won 4 of their past 5 games coinciding with the return of Myles Turner. It may be tougher for the Wizards to replicate their team basketball philosophy on the road; Vegas is favoring the Pacers by 3 and half points at home.

it will be interesting to see if Washington can keep winning with this style of play.

Here was the last time Washington beat Indiana, in their last matchup almost a year ago. Washington won the season series last season 3-1.

Huge game for playoff positioning. If the Wiz can somehow pull it off, there’ll be a little cushion.

Historically, the Wiz are terrible at Indy. I wouldn’t be surprised with an L where the Pacers make everything on video game crap and Bullets go cold.

All-Star Break can't come soon enough for everyone.

Wizards are relatively healthy. Otto Porter has a hip issue that's been bothering him for over a month. Mike Scott has the flu. And obviously Wall is out probably till the end of March.

I imagine since they are all questionable maybe only half of em don't play. Turner is the type of athletic big who can stretch the defense that will probably abuse Gortat.

Big game for standings. A win here secures some cushion. LETS GET DAT ASS

Is Mike Scott back? It might be a good game to play Morris and Scott together for stretches.

So we are ranked 8th in the latest ESPN Power Ratings Poll. Did not know that stat at the bottom.

8. Washington Wizards
2017-18 record: 30-22

PREV. RANK LAST WEEK THIS WEEK
13 3-0 @IND, @PHI, BOS, @CHI
No John Wall, no problem for the Wizards. They have won four straight games, tied for their longest win streak this season. The Wizards have also won consecutive road games by at least 15 points for only the second time over the past 35 seasons, with the other instance occurring Feb. 12-14, 2012. -- Matt Williams

You gotta figure the Wizards are due for a bad game. This winning streak can't last forever. On the other hand, one can argue that the Wizards actually did have a bad game against OKC. And their shooting against Orlando was actually pretty awful too (.269 from 3-point range).

We actually haven't seen a combination of this recent tenacious defense/unselfish ball-movement coupled with truly hot shooting from 3-point range. Well, except for the blowout win against the hapless Atlanta Hawks.

They're due for a bad game, I'm just not sure it's going to be against this Pacers squad.

I like how Washington matches up with the Pacers and the fact that Indiana is playing Bogdanovic 30 minutes a game means that there will be plenty opportunities for either Morris or Gortat to exploit his terrible defense.

Turner only played 15 minutes in the left game and has be struggling with bum knees for a while now and there's a good chance he'll be limited again tonight.

Bogdanovic used to torch us when he played in Brooklyn. It's one of the reasons our crack GM thought we should trade for him.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Apparently Turner was in foul trouble in the 1st half, which limited his minutes. Also one would think that Bojan would be guarding Porter.

Oladipo is out tonight. Collison out 2-3 weeks. Cory Joseph and Lance Stephenson start in backcourt.
