Bulls get: Deng, Noah, Lakers 2020, Knicks 2018 both unprotected
Lakers get: Felicio, Payne
Knicks get: Lopez
Bulls go all in for AD 2020 with Deng and noahs contract being up going into that summer. Only big contract would be Lavine, Dunns cap hold, Valentine cap hold, Portis (who you could trade). Then you have lauri on rookie, 2018 bulls, pelicans and knicks, 2019 bulls, 2020 bulls and lakers.
Then for the fun of it. Grant for Rose. The backups will be Rose, Deng, Noah, and Asik haha

We've got the ability to use that same cap space on accumulating assets thru buying bad contracts. Listening to Woj' podcast today, he mentioned how good of a spot teams that are rebuilding are in. There's not many and there's plenty of teams desperately trying to unload bad deals, in time for FA next year. He mentioned that some GM's use 14 million as a rule of thumb for the value of a 1st round pick, by the way.
So, there's 2 different ways to use your cap, if you use it now. And you SHOULD use it. There's merit to going either direction here.....
If you draft a wing,(Porter or Doncic) then sign Capela.....Come on, that's a pretty exciting team. Say you draft one of Ayton, Bagley, Bamba, or JJJ. Then you sign Gordon, Jabari, or Hood. Still, a pretty interesting and fun team to watch....
But, is it better than taking stock of what you've already got......And adding more assets to a growing pile of them? Using your pick, then adding more picks and not capping yourself out monetarily, too early.... With the added benefit of drafting higher again for another year or two, as well.
I can see both sides here. But, I'm taking the side of adding bad money. Accumulating assets can put you in an enviable spot. Adding one nice young player, at this exact stage, would be fun.....But, it likely hinders you longterm, in my mind.
Tank on, GarPax. Do it up right.
We need a like button. I agree and the best part is Gar and Pax could realistically explore both options 1st with the Draft. If they don't like the offers they can pull out and excersis the addition of a restricted free agent targets.

well ... we could go full rebuild and trade Lopez and LAVine for JR and BKN pick
We pick Doncic and best available Center and with Pels pick we hopefully get one of the Bridges
You sure? I get the feeling that Gilbert is as stubborn as they come and would rather keep the pick, this season be damned. The bad blood between he and lebron is real.

I've been suggesting this for months now. Not only is getting that pick good for us, but getting out of having to commit money to Zach Is extremely valuable in itself IMO.

2018 Free Agency market? MEH...
If I'm Gar-Pax, I sit this one out, load up for next year's crop. Nobody thrills me, for the money they'd cost.
Even the UFAs, not much. Nurkic? Probably no...
I'm for the Bulls to keep acquiring more assets in this slim F/A year, maybe find one more deal to get back a 2nd rounder draft pick, then draft well, and then go shopping in 2019...

Yeah, this is a tough one to call. Lebron not declaring any of his future intentions, it sort of handcuffs the franchise as to what direction to go, and especially their decision on the BKN pick. Problem for Gilbert and the Cavs is that decision time is coming and that will still be before Lebron makes "The Decision" - see what I did there
If I had to guess, 1.) He stays in Clev, 2.) He goes to the Lakers.
Gilbert could also decide to sell the Cavs to a Lebron-led group and be done with the whole mess, half-kidding here....

Seen a Spurs fan suggest Lopez and Nelson for Mills , White and a 2018 1st. Mills contract is lengthy but he sort of fits the system and we get another 1st rounder but I’ll do it prob . But I could see some people turned off by mills contract

Yeah...$12M/yr is a lot to pay a back-up 28 year-old PG for 3 more years. I'd be more willing if they took Grant and Payne back in deal.
Part of me thinks the goal with RoLo and/or Holiday is to work a deal where Felicio goes too.

Unless you're very concerned about LaVine's injury, why trade a 22 year-old who appears to have at least borderline all-star potential? People always get excited about the unknown, but outside of Bagley, Doncic and Ayton, are there really any other players in the lottery that definitely show more potential than LaVine?
What we do know is LaVine is very talented with a skill set suited for the modern NBA. We also know talented, but too inexperienced of teams tend to never turn the corner. LaVine provides experience and leadership despite only being 22.
We should value him as a core piece moving forward IMHO.

the only problem I see there is that with all the big contracts coming up in 19' won't there be about 15 nba teams shopping in 2019 as well? very limited competition in 18 and we'll have space, bad timing shouldn't mean lack of opportunity

We give NY back all the players we got from that Derrick Rose trade for an albatross dump, a guy who doesn't wanna be there, and their 1st.

Re: Trade Thread 2: Make your offers here
Let's get interesting
To Milwaukee
C Robin Lopez
PG Derrick Rose
Why: They trade a first (but well in the future), a young guy who had a stall year, and a bad contract for a legit C. They need to consolidate how they spend their cap to maintain in the future and chopping off a future year of Delly makes this palatable
To Cleveland
PG Matthew Dellavadova
G/F David Nwaba
Future Milwaukee #1
Why: They swap Shumpert for Delly+Nwaba which is longer but this deal saves them $3.3 in cap money but that's nearly $12 million in luxury tax payments to upgrade a position of need. That pick is also useful in future years.
To Chicago
C Thon Maker
SF Cedi Osman
G/F Iman Shumpert
Better of #1 between Cleveland and Milwaukee (better pick to Chicago, worse pick to Milwaukee)
If Cleveland finishes with a better record than Milwaukee: Bulls get the Bucks pick, Bucks get the Cavs pick, Cavs get a future #1 via Milwaukee
If Milwaukee finishes with a better record than Cleveland: Bulls get the Cavs pick, Bucks keeps their #1, Cavs get a future #1 via Milwaukee
Bulls get a late first somewhere for Lopez while also taking on Maker and Osman as fliers.

Re: Trade Thread 2: Make your offers here
^^ 2 horrendous contracts and a late 1st for a potential expiring (he has a player option)? Meh.
Teams, stop bailing out the Cavs. Let us enjoy this dysfunction that is the Cleveland Cavaliers. If they want to rid of those terrible contracts, make them pay (start with the BKN pick).

Don't think that part with picks in necessary, not sure what we give here as well as taking into account the state of market would return us a pick, but given what we give up (Lopez) and that we receive two decent prospects (Maker especially imo), I think return is good enough for me to do it.

Cavs already stated they aren’t dealing the BK pick for Jordan or any other non Young upside player so that kills all these Lopez holiday ideas for the BK pick. This s clear win for the Cavs if they pull this off unless the clippers really value Thompson
