Booker can play point ala Harden mode
Hood can play shooting guard or small forward
Jackson can play same as Hood

Hood is an elite 3pt shooter....

And this original post proposed Warren for Hood.. Did you read the whole post?

Ok lets look at Warren for Hood. First of all I dont believe that we as a team want Booker running point guard no matter the success that Houston has had with it. I believe that it takes away from his ability to focus on scoring what he is best out. One of the weakness the Suns have had is rebounding so bring in Hood we would lose rebounding vs Warren. we would lose scoring in Hood shooting % for Hood. So again why would the Suns want hood over Warren? Unless the Jazz were to give us a 1st to go with him.

Yeah I'm not particularly enthralled with having Hood instead of TJ. I get that Hood is an excellent 3PT shooter but aside from that Warren is better at everything else. I wish Warren had a 3 and I do value the 3PT highly but I don't value it as highly as TJ's combined ability to get points at a high percentage (high eFG% even without a 3pt shot), his rebounding and his ability to play off the ball. Also Hood is up for a new deal which leaves a lot of uncertainty and I don't know if there were to be some savings, whether it would even be significant compared to TJ's $12m a year.

Oh and I like that Booker can play that Harden role but I wouldn't want him to play that full time.

Warren is better in a lot of ways than Hood.

But that's like saying Derozan is better than Thompson in everything else except 3pt (and defense, mind you Hood is also slightly better than Warren defensively)

3Pt shooting makes a massive difference.. Because it really widely used now and it opens up lanes.

Imagine Hood in a faster tempo offense.

Also it allows Jackson to be the main slasher and has 2 players to kick off to in Booker or Hood.

TJ still has a better TS% than Hood even being 7~8% lower than Hood in 3p% and FT%
Seems like a lateral move AT BEST.

The only thing hood does better is shoot threes, n free throws that he doesn't take.

Warren gets guys in foul trouble, falls down like a little girl all the time, great around the rim, solid mid range, improved defender (although not good yet), good attitude, and you don't have to run plays for him.

Hood shoots 3's. Good for him.

I'll keep Warren.

I think if we're looking at a 3&D guy, we could probably find someone cheaper and certainly without costing us Warren who's a really good player even considering his lack of a 3PT shot. I think Hood's ability to shoot the 3 certainly adds a lot of value but his defense is only marginally better than Warren's and his rebounding rate is almost half of TJ's. I just don't see enough justification for this trade.

If Warriors had Derozan instead of Thompson... Pre Durant... They would not have won a championship.

Having multiple 3pt shooters who can get hot when open... Makes defenses panic and it really allows the offense dictate the flow and plays.

In any case Warren needs to work his 3pter or he will be a super 6th man instead. Jackson is going to be the future SF.

I think Hood would fit better next to Jackson and Booker... Who both can slash well.. And dish out.

Like I said.. That SF spot is Jackson's the way he's going.

Just a rumor though. Doubt Charlotte does that. The pick is such a crapshoot.

I'd keep Warren primarily because we know his cost...plus I doubt we will trade him anyway given that he agreed to a reasonable extension a year earlier...he didn't have to do that and it showed that he wants to be here and we want him here.

Down the road if he is needed in a major deal, so be it, but this isn't it.

Only reason I see Jazz and Suns trading Hood for Warren is because Jazz have pretty good 3pt shooters now and could use someone who can create his own 2 point shots inside...

Mitchell, Ingles, Burks and Warren allow good balance

Pretty much. I'm just not high enough on hood to make a change for a guy that would be a quasi lateral move.

I'm still hoping for upside in Warren. I don't $#it on anyone who'd want to make the move, I just don't see much upside, if any.

I'm sure most teams would rather have Favors than Monroe...

As the trade deadline approaches, executives across the league are using the same word to describe the market: "clogged." As in: clogged with available players no one wants for the desired price, and clogged with bloated long-term salaries -- stinky leftovers from the 2016 cap spike -- no one wants at (almost) any price.

Derrick Favors is a useful bellwether. He is a good player on an expiring $12 million contract, and very much on the market, according to several league sources and prior reports. In past financial crunches, a team in Utah's situation could have extracted a ton of value by peddling a decent-sized expiring contract.

The model was simple: You need payroll relief, and we have a solid player on an expiring contract. Rent Favors, and send us a good player on a long-term deal -- plus a draft pick for our trouble. Utah is not a free-agent destination, so snagging a starter on a long-term contract in exchange for a guy walking out the door could be a win -- free agency via trade.

Then you scan the pile of available guys on long-term deals and realize: There might not be a single one the Jazz want. Ditto for Dallas (sitting on $13 million in cap space), Phoenix ($10 million), or any team dangling a big expiring contract. Who wants any of the multiyear, eight-figure deals clogging cap sheets in Portland, Milwaukee, Charlotte, Miami, and elsewhere? The summer of 2016 warped everything.

Called this before it hit the news. Wonder if Chriss and Fish got into it. Fish just started in August 2017.

edit:

According to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro, the Suns have a rule that if a player does not play 20 minutes in a game that the player has to do work after the game, usually an estimated seven minutes of cardio, and potentially something else.

Just an extra 7 minutes of cardio

Will Barton 18 on 70% shooting, 2/3 from 3, 8 assists, a block and a steal. If we get a C in the draft, this might be the free agent that makes the most sense to look at if we like Booker at the 1. Whether we play him off the bench or next to Booker with Jackson at the 3 and Warren off the bench, doesn't matter. Give them all minutes...have him take those Ulis/Canaan/House/Daniels minutes.

I like that he can hit 3s and pass...versatile. He probably wouldn't cost much either. Averages 4 apg.

Details on the chriss suspension. Good to hold him accountable but this seems pretty minor.

So, I'm actually kinda with Chriss on this.

Dude is just getting back from an injury and probably has one trainer telling him not to push it, coach plays him 14 minutes but doesn't push him, Chriss starts to ice up thinking he played a significant amount of time and also needs to preserve his body. Then another trainer reminds him he needs to lift. Perhaps this trainer was a bit aggressive with his tone and Chriss snapped and said a few choice words.

Kinda seems a bit silly to punish him under these circumstances.

So I'll take a guess on this ... it's not the first time the coach has had to have Chriss brought in from the locker to do his extra work. The coach probably got tired of going to find Chriss and then repeatedly reminded Chriss that he needed to keep track of it in front of the other "mostly" young players also in the room. Probably wasn't a gentle reminder but if Chriss always had to be found for these extra workouts I would be pissed too as a coach and light into him. Chriss thinking he is >>> strength/conditioning coach tells him to f'off. Coach kicks him out of training room.

Chriss played only 14 minutes against the Utah Jazz Friday and began icing right away after the game instead of doing his required training. The weight room coach asked where Chriss was and he said he wasn’t aware of his minute total. Chriss took the ice off, went to go do the work and the weight room coach wanted to make sure Chriss was aware of this being something that he should be keeping track of.

It's not like Chriss hasn't had to do this extra work more than a few times ... http://bkref.com/tiny/rNWsp

If the Jazz don't get any decent offers for Favors, I'd be willing to trade Chandler and the Heat pick for him. This way, the Jazz get a pick, and possibly use Chandler's expiring next season to get a player with a longer term contract.

I always thought he'd be a bit more than he is. Don't know what happened there, haven't paid attention to work ethic, coach favorability, etc.

There are some interesting players available. Read the Blazers maybe want to give up McCollum or Lillard for the right price. Would give up a lot for Lillard. Really want him. Only two players i don't want to trade are Booker and Jackson.
If we want to build around Jackson, Booker AND Warren, the question is which Positions the play and what we need, PG or Center. Would rather go after a PG and slide Warren to PF than go after a Center and play Booker PG the next years.

Lillard likes to shoot that ball, with everyone talking about maximizing Booker, I'd think a pg like Derek Fisher would be the order.

On the other side, I do like Lillard, mainly on the account that he hits big shots.

TJ Warren is in no way a PF though. Can't defend them, can't stretch them out, can't rebound with them. Nah.

Not really even sure why they want to trade Hood. He can play next to Mitchell and Burks can play PG. Hood is big enough to be SF.

His 3pt range coulde be so useful .. Especially since Suns may run Booker and Jackson as backcourt Long term.

Rather have him than Aaron Gordon.

No.
Hood has been really bad on defense and he is not an starting player (for now) if you want to go to the playoffs.

Return to Phoenix Suns
