The last 5 games since Robes went down:

Also quite interesting that the numbers kinda prove that our bench has been better defensively than the starters.

We need to address the elephant in the room

I do like Pat being out there,” Donovan said. “I've got to find ways to get him some more minutes somehow.”

“Somehow”? Has he tried, i dont know, just giving him more minutes?

I was watching some old highlights of Melos best performances just to see how much of his first step he’s lost. Even when he would catch a pass for a wide open shot, he would still jab step, dribble and pull up. He’s such a rhythm player that I wonder if he’s just not capable of being a spot up shooter.

All this messing around with lineups made people think that Donovan is this flexible guy, but it honestly seems like he is just as stubborn as Brooks when it comes to certain aspects of rotations. Like he has this weird notion that, even though this was not true for the first 10 games or so, Melo should never play the 3. And if Melo also always has to play with both Russ and Adams, this makes it virtually impossible for Patterson to get more minutes because Melo is basically hogging the position after Donovan's 'guidelines'.

I don't know if Robes was covering more for the players or the scheme. The shots we give up at a high rate (3's and layups) are good shots, and they're shots that you tend to give up based on either bad rotations or being over aggressive. We seem to have made that trade off in order to get more transition points.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

Could be nothing. Could be something. Maybe they think their chances of landing a marquee free agent such as George have cooled.

The other side of that is that Lebron wants LA to trade assets and lakers aren’t willing to do that. So LA is countering with, “well just wait until next year.” That’s according to the all-knowing Bill Simmons. Lakers need Lebron more than Lebron needs the lakers. The media just can’t handle LA not being an nba super power.

Elaborate Russ. Specifically in regard to your defense.

Yo did you guys catch Fred Katz on The Basketball Friends? He said Russ doesn't like follow-up questions. In Preseason, Horne asked Russ how they could be better defensively and Russ apparently said 'Just defend'. Katz couldn't help himself and asked 'But how are you gonna defend?'. Russ didn't answer the question, didn't talk to him for a couple of weeks and then said 'Don't be a ****' after the media availability was over.

I hope Fred said, “likewise”.

After thinking about what did and did not transpire yesterday, I tend to think George is gone. I think a lot of what he has said so far about bonding with Russ is manipulation to get what he wants. Maybe I’m just jaded because of Durant and disappointed that we lost Dre and weren’t able to make up his loss at the deadline. Something just feels deceptive about his comments to me. I hope I’m wrong.

Unfortunately what we get here is 2016 all over except we’re less competitive (Melo for Ibaka, what evs for Robes) but with luck we might get more production out of our star players when the season is on the line.

The worst part of it will be the media kicking our anxieties in the nuts until 18/19.

Patterson didn’t help himself yesterday, he had a great opportunity to carve more minutes with Adams.
