Agreed. Something inside the arena or attached to the arena would be great. Go there before/after games.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

One of my friends just saw Billy Joel at Lambeau last summer, so unless the city council perceived that experience to be disastrous, I can't imagine they would turn down Elton John. My guess is that they're just more selective about when the concerts are held so that they are not bumping up against football activities and gives them plenty of time to do field repairs where necessary.

However, I doubt they would have a Milwaukee, Madison, and GB date. You're pulling from the same crowd, essentially. At most, I could see a couple dates.

Lambeau has had Kenny Chesney twice (Andean may have opened) and Billy joel in the last 5 years I'd say. Chesney's were a disaster to field, people kissing on field, insane amount o police calls, etc. I was hoping for Metallica as they were doing a stadium tour but they hit up Chicago instead, not shocked.

People were kissing, and then dancing! God damnit they danced.

And here I thought another footloose movie was about to be born.

Peter Quill/Star-Lord: Really? Well on my planet, there's a legend about people like you. It's called... Footloose. And in it, a great hero, named Kevin Bacon, teaches an entire city full of people with sticks up their butts that dancing, is the greatest thing there is.
Gamora: Who put the sticks up their butts?

Bucks, local officials make a full-court press to bring the NBA All-Star Game to new arena

Bucks, local officials make a full-court press to bring the NBA All-Star Game to new arena

The Milwaukee Bucks and local officials are making a full-court press to land the NBA All-Star Game.

It's not a long shot on the basketball front — the Bucks are shooting for 2022 or 2023 and their new $524 million arena opens this fall.

But there are other obstacles to overcome, including concern that the area doesn't have enough top-tier hotel rooms available for the well-heeled crowd that comes to such an event, said Ted Loehrke, the Bucks' executive vice president for strategy and development.

Late last month, the Bucks and local officials took the first steps to assure the NBA brass that small-market Milwaukee is capable of holding the NBA's version of the Super Bowl. They're making a big effort to stress a message of cooperation and show the league that they're well-organized.

During the visit by NBA officials, local leaders emphasized that Milwaukee has successfully hosted other events that draw thousands of visitors like the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, Summerfest or the Harley-Davidson anniversaries, Loehrke said.

They showed off the new arena as well as the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena and Wisconsin Center District convention space, which are important parts of the Bucks' bid. The NBA requires cities to have a primary and secondary arena. It helps that those facilities are clustered together downtown, Loehrke said.

"We stressed for them how coordinated we are with the Wisconsin Center District and the UWM Panther Arena," Bucks President Peter Feigin said. "We think it went great."

TLDR; Bucks could get All-Star game but lack of 4-star rooms hurts their chances. Bucks say a commute from 4 star resorts in Kohler or Lake Geneva is the same in traffic in LA.

Eagles now coming to new arena in October. (Don't like them, but nonetheless a huge get coming 24hrs after TImberlake)

The team LED hired to run this place and schedule it are outstanding. We don't have enough cash in Milwaukee to attend all these things.

How about we sell naming rights before pitching the All-Star Game.

If they don't get an ASG by 2023, they **** up imo.

2022 and 23 should be Milwaukee and Golden State.

Forgot to include my /sarcasm tag. My bad!

Just funny to me that they haven't nailed down the naming rights thing yet. Clock is a'tickin!

If I was an all-star I wouldn’t want it in Milwaukee. February is the worst damn month to hold an event in Milwaukee.

The last time Milwaukee was talked about for an ASG there was a lot of "players will fake injuries to stay out of a weekend in Milwaukee". I don't know if that would happen but it certainly wouldn't be a destination players or media would look forward to.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Last year it wasn't. 70 degrees out.

The average high on 2/18, date of this year's game, is 33, low of 19.

I don't see the weather as a big deal, I think we'll get the game

Usually only ~15% of ASG tickets go to current STHs, and they are typically the nosebleeds. So if you have season tickets, you have to win a lottery to be able to pay hundreds of dollars per ticket to sit in the top few rows, or pay thousands on the secondary market for decent seats.

I think we'll get an ASG, and we should. I think any new arena should, to be honest.

If Minneapolis can host a Super Bowl, Milwaukee can host an NBA all star game. I get the concerns about lack of high end hotel options, but let’s be real, it’s kind of unfounded. Erin Hills just hosted a PGA tour event, and the golf-fan demographic tends to be one of the highest median income fan-bases historically.

I highly doubt all of the nicer hotels in the city are just going to be booked full.

I think the biggest gripe is the weather, which I get, it’s miserably cold right now, but just play the game and go jet out to St Barth’s. It really shouldn’t be a massive deal.

Nah, NBA All-Star weekend is a BIG THING. They need capacity for hotels we likely don't have (that the Twin Cities ABSOLUTELY has), etc. Comparing it to ANY golf event shows a lack of understanding of how many visitors we will be expecting.

Still, Indy has it in 2021 and while they are a good deal bigger, I think we should be in the running.

What, does this new fancy arena have heat or something? While we are living in fantasy land, what are you going to have heat in your cars and buses too? How would that even work, gawddddd.
