Miami- Cleveland

Simple idea for a trade between the Cavs and Miami

Ellington for Crowder.

Ellington gives the Cavs another shooter to space the floor for Lebron. He is also on an expiring deal so this move gives the Cavs a little relief on the salary cap in case Lebron bolts in the offseason. Ellington has also come a long way in being a facilitator and defender.

Crowder gives the Heat a starter at the forward position. He fits the Heat mold as a 3 and D guy. Might be able to capture some of the way he played in Boston. He is on a good deal. Reduces the need for the Heat to pay Ellington in the offseason as they already have a lot invested in the position (Waiters, Johnson, and Richardson).

Thoughts?

The Cavs don't need to be trading replacement-level defenders for bad defenders.

Crowder is really 1 of 2 of their above average defenders. Cavs need him

How about Waiters and Ellington for IT & Crowder?

Cavs - getting IT off the floor is a bigger defensive win than Crowder provides. Ellington is a class act and can shoot - unlike several of Cleveland's current 'shooters'.

Heat - save a little money going forward while losing a guy they've grown to not need.

How balanced is it?

Dude. I'm the mayor of Waiters Island and even I think this is a bad idea. He just had major ankle surgery and is out for the year.

And was bad before then.
I read the text and thought... oh boy, some Miami fan is really trying to swindle the Cavs.

I get that Waiters has his fans (I don't. I really don't despite what I just said). But he is a long term commitment at the wrong time for Cleveland, and costs more which means a bundle in taxes for this year, and he doesn't even help in the short term.

It's pretty hard to find an IT trade that I wouldn't make at this point. But I'd rather just cut IT then take back Bayless and two seconds.

I know this sounds crazy, but my advice for CLE fans is to be patient with IT.

IT is finished...nobody that has watched him every game thinks he can turn it around by playing through it. He will have hip surgery in the off season...mark my words. Coupled with his ball hogging big mouth, and no defense, He us at least an expiring for someone. Get him out of Cleveland regardless of what you get back. Most Cavs would rather see Calderon play instead if IT. That ought to tell you all you need to know about Cavs feelings toward IT.

This is an overreaction.

If you haven't watched Waiters shoot 40% on high usage, through three and a half quarters, all while screaming ANNNND 1 every time he goes to the rack, and enjoyed it, then you just don't like basketball.

Jack and O'Quinn for Thomas?

Knicks fans seem to be unaware that we paid a 1st to dump out of Jack's last contract.

Nah, it's just me :D

But you also know you didn't really buy out Jack the player, it was Jack the contract. My point is that if you will take anything, the Knicks would be fun to watch with Thomas out there.

Obviously you guys need a starting point guard so we can't address that need. Shooting is a must so even Rubio wouldn't help. If you guys happen to trade Frye, Shumpert, Osman, Zizec for Hood and Favors, feel free to give us a call about Thomas. That's all I ask.

Talent wise, a good value for either team. But I doubt the Heat do it because of tax concerns... Mr. Arison will only pay the tax if his team is a contender. Plus, Heat needs shooting than Crowder's defense.

Ellington is big for Miami's spreading and best 3 point shooter for them probably. What does Crowder give them? I'd quickly say no if I were Miami.
