No extra salary going out. Johnny is as meh as it gets so it’s not about him. And the picks are years away and likely protected....what is this deal about??

Neither is WHG. Currently averaging 9 mpg. Monk was their prized first round pick from last year, they're not trading him for a guy averaging 4 points.

I'm not horribly upset here, a little miffed but not raging. You need assets, two 2nd rounders are assets...you now take those two picks, plus QOK and see if you can move into the bottom of the 1st round.

So you're telling me that we're going to hit a WHG type player with an absurd cheap contract with one of those 2nd round picks?! LOL

The ratio of GETTING A WHG type player in the 2nd round is already difficult.

We just traded our good asset to move towards 2020 and 2021?! I get that the Hornets might suck at that time, is there any protections? If not, then this is ridiculous.

There's absolutely no defending this deal. Even if you think Hernangomez is ****, he still was an all-Rookie last year AND he's on a bargain deal. They just GAVE him away. Second rounders mean ****. Even high second rounders. Look at Diamond Stone and Stephen Zimmerman. They were waived not even a year after they were taken with high second round picks. Teams pray that second-round picks become first-team All-Rookies, as Hernangomez did last season.

This is wasting an asset, which the Knicks are pros at.
