I have been saying ever since Sean Marks and Kenny Atkinson were hired that they will rebuild the Nets quicker than the Knicks and that's still on track.

BKN went bargain shopping in the summer, gave a minor deal to Zeller, then flipped him for a likely 2020 2nd.

We have a guy who we drafted, played well his rookie year, was marketed as part of the future, has two years at less than 2 mil left, & traded him for two 2nds.

We as fans are overvaluing Willy. Yes, he had a very good rookie year, but people seem to forget that he came into camp out of shape. We had a ton of pages analyzing a picture and trying to decide whether he was overweight. The times he got in this season he really didn't do much. I remember in particular we were blowing out a team, not sure which one, and he came in for garbage time and he still couldn't do anything.

Let's be real with ourselves, Willy was NEVER worth a first rounder. We got two first round picks and a player who is the same age and drafted in roughly the same spot (2nd Round, 36th Pick - 2014) as Willy (2nd Round, 35th Pick - 2015).

My guess is O'Bryant doesn't see any time at all and the picks are flipped in order to move Noah.

2 future seconds are hardly enticing enough for another team to take Noah lol

The FO also likely sees Kanter as the long-term answer at the 5, we're going to re-sign him once his deal is up and pay $80m to a guy we won't be able to play in the playoffs - if we ever get there again.

With KP going down my tack would have been to ride out Kanter's contract (I think his return would be awful) and choose between Willy and KOQ on who to go with into the future. I would have leaned towards Willy because I think we can get a better KOQ return now. Maybe mix and match for a prospect.

Willy is a dinosaur in the NBA now.

Two picks from a franchise that is on its way downward with bloated contracts and luxury tax staring them in the face? Almost 10 games under right now with their full roster that they are stuck with for the foreseeable future. Could do a lot worse tbh. Willy is and has always been a bum. They sold low for sure, but I really don't think there is a market for slow lumbering big men anymore, especially those that can't play defense.

But there needs to be follow up moves with selling KOQ, Lee etc.

That's exactly what I would have done as well. It's possible the FO doesn't see either as a long-term solution as well.

You took a 2nd rounder and developed him into a player, something worth more than a 2nd now - a late first or another young player. Instead you trade him for two more 2nds so you can draft another Cleanthony Early and Slavko Vranes. Do you know how difficult it is to find a player in the 2nd round and have him become valuable? This is an awful trade in all aspects. We got ZERO return on a prospect we developed.

Monk sucking right now doesn't mean WHG nets anything close to that type of player, a highly touted rookie in the middle of his rookie season. I don't think this is a good trade or a bad trade. WHG has gone from underrated to overrated. I'm not going to celebrate the deal or say it's the worst thing ever like I am sure some posters will do. WHG is an absolutely atrocious defender and he's been overrated by this board to the point where people were actually expecting a first round pick for him.

The 2nds can also be used in trades. People wanted picks, we have a lot of picks now. And our drafting has actually been a strong point. It's a minor deal, let's not make it out to be a major one.

2nd round picks are useless. They are thrown around the league like candy. And as I mentioned earlier, there's a reason for that. Having an abundance of them isn't something to brag about.

This trade sucks all around. WHG not being a good defender has nothing to do with this trade not being bad.

Tyreke Evans, Wesley Matthews, Marcus Smart are having trouble netting first rounds picks. There is no way anyone is giving up a first rounder for Hernangomez, especially a bad team like the Hornets.

see I can live with getting pipped for lee because he doesn't fit our timeline and he has a larger salary...getting piped on a trade you didn't have to make...is what bothers me.
