Right. If we wanted to get a good return on Willy we needed to move Kyle and play him.

We'd almost better re-sign Kyle at this point because that's likely where the better return would have been.

I see it like this. Noah is toxic, Kanter probably opts in but our back-up KOQ needs a nice raise. Willy could have been a cheap back-up but without him we essentially manufactured an offseason need. Now we either gotta draft one or sign one when like him or not Willy woulda been a fine minimum contract player to handle that.

You no longer need 1 traditional center, let alone 2. We don't have to replace Willy or KOQ.

I have been saying ever since Sean Marks and Kenny Atkinson were hired that they will rebuild the Nets quicker than the Knicks and that's still on track.

BKN went bargain shopping in the summer, gave a minor deal to Zeller, then flipped him for a likely 2020 2nd.

We have a guy who we drafted, played well his rookie year, was marketed as part of the future, has two years at less than 2 mil left, & traded him for two 2nds.

Folks need to take the homer shades off.

So thats what happens when you tank a players trade value and then sell low. Not even a a big fan of Willy, but just giving him 15-20 minutes would likely have been enough to stat pad his averages and get a bigger haul ..

Seems like spite was involved. Knicks were supposedly asking for a 1st rounder or a young player.. got 2 2nds and sent him to Charlotte who has even more bigmen then us

pretty much my feelings...look like perry panicked and wanted to rid himself of a player that was not happy he wasn't playing...he made the easy move just to move him instead of the right move to wait till his value got better.

When was his value going to get better though? He's a slow footed center that can't play defense. Teams aren't playing those guys anymore and they don't want them either. I get it that it was probably better to just keep him and see what happens, but if you do want to get some value back then this is probably the best you can hope for. I'm pretty anti Mills-Perry, but I see the logic considering the state of the big man market. Charlotte is going to be BAD soon. They have to move players, because no owner is paying the lux tax for a non-playoff team, especially MJ.

So you're going to completely ignore the list of players I mentioned.

Yes I am. This isn't like the NFL Draft where you hold on to second rounders for a few years and develop them and hope they pan out. Second rounders can be cut as easy as 1, 2 and 3, even after less than a year.

And they can become all-stars as I mentioned with all of those names. But you mentioned Diamond Stone. The NFL Draft is also a horrible comparison because there are 7 rounds in the NFL draft. It's not comparable. Don't mention two second round cuts and then ignore the litany of second round studs I mentioned.

Here's some perspective:

The Knicks traded their own 2019 2nd round pick for Scott Perry, right? Would you rather have that pick or the 2 picks from the Hornets in 2020/2021?

Not to mention the Knicks already traded 2020 and 2021 picks to draft Willy originally. This is essentially a dump/neutral move with a young asset on a bargain deal. The guy was first team All Rookie last year and they gave him away for free.

That's terrible asset managing, which is a staple of the Knicks.
