idk if its just me, and my current situation, but this NBA trade deadline doesn't feel as hyped or crazy this time around.

This is set to be one of the dullest trade deadlines ever and I think its cause they moved it up 2 weeks. If this is an experiment year, they should move it back

Except for the super-star Blake Griffin trade.

Seriously, what do you expect from the deadline? If it's quiet, it's more due to almost half the league being projected as a tax payer next season rather than the deadline being moved earlier. Nobody wants to add payroll.

Woj made an interesting point on the Lowe Post this week saying that at any given time, 80% of the league is tradeable. I think we're still in for some news today and tomorrow.

They're only 2nd rounders, but still a weird move for Charlotte. I guess no moves are weird for Charlotte though, they're always doing strange things that fly in the face of the obvious which they should be doing.

Everyone and their mom knows they should get the best return possible for Kemba and Dwight, preferably in separate trades and tank as hard as possible, maybe move MKG next summer if possible and blow it up, but they won't. Then on top of that, they shouldn't be dealing any picks at all and even if they get high in the draft, chances are they totally blow the pick.

I would hate to be a Hornets fan, tough sports life.

We've already seen a straight up superstar traded. There's been a handful of other small moves. Things will pick-up tomorrow. How is this going to be one of the dullest deadlines ever, because the trade was to Detroit?

I’m sure this gives them incentive to blow it up. Zeller is out for the season if they were to deal Dwight.

The Knicks partially lost here by dealing a guy that they could’ve easily kept and rebuilt his value while KP is injured.

A guy like Zeller will never fetch a 1st round pick. However, someone like Hernangomez could’ve been had for a 1st if they kept him and gave him a bunch of minutes. They are tanking anyways.

13. Spencer Dinwiddie is not liked by executives as a trade target as much as he is a free agent down the line. Dinwiddie garnered praise, but not as much trade lust as I figured he would.

That's the first thing I thought after seeing this trade. He showed some flashes last season and then he completely fell out of the rotation this season. And its not a trade that they absolutely needed to make either.

they released the O'Bryant kid too.

so this was a trade for 2 draft picks to insult Willy Hernangomez.

Well he did reportedly request a trade.

Makes sense.

There really isn't a rush to trade for him anyway. He's been superb for us, but it's not like he's a true star PG.

With our terrible PG play over the recent years, I think some of us may have forgotten how great and healthy the PG position is in the NBA, and how there still a dozen PGs better than Dinwiddie and a number of PGs who are at his level.

Clearly better: Steph, Westbrook, CP3, Wall, Kyrie, Lillard, IT (healthy), Lowry

Usually better: Conley, Kemba, Dragic, Bledsoe

A case can be made for Schröder, Teague, and Rubio that if they were given more minutes, they'd showcase that they are at least on his level, if not a tad better.

There's no shame being ranked 12-15 as a PG nowadays, especially considering that Dinwiddie was in the D-League not too long ago.
With that said, he's not a missing piece for any team...at least not yet.

He seems to be getting better and I think teams want to see if and when he'll plateau before they take the plunge and give up assets for a trade.

Whatever he ends up leveling off at, I hope the Nets strongly consider him as the starting PG for a long time, unless they're faced with an offer or pick of a player who's clearly more talented.
