I'm thinking to the Cavs if they decide to trade the Nets pick.

Dwight Howard, Kemba Walker for

Nets pick, Channing Frye, Isiah Thomas and maybe JR and Shump

deals saves Charlotte some cash dumping Howard for TT; Frye and Thomas are expiring, Shumpert and Kemba on the same time but save some cash and they get the Pick

Cavs aren't trading the Nets pick. It pretty clear that the owner there doesn't really care about winning this year and they all know LeBron is leaving. He would trade LeBron if he could. He has been lucky in the lottery a lot and I am sure he expects to be lucky again.

He's locked into a great contract. May as well be free. Why not take him?

Chandler can coach from the bench. Len is gone. Sauce is hurt. Bender at the 5 has improved our spacing quite a bit. Wouldn't mind another stretch 5.

Because for McD EVERYTHING is about this draft.

Steve Kyler NBA - yes, I know he is probably as correct as Jordan Schultz and maybe worse than a broken clock (as those are at least right twice per day) - but this was interesting as its Suns related:

Read on Twitter

So, if this guy is right

Clarkson / Brewer for Dudley and Chriss - at least get rid of Dudleys contract

I am clueless what the return would be

That makes no sense if we do move him there is no way we move him in the division unless its for Ball or Kuzma nothing else on their roster makes any sense for the Suns and the Lakers arent making those other moves.

No way we trade Chriss for anything the Lakers have.

Edit: Well... maybe Randle? But I like Chriss a lot more.

Randle?

Word is the Lakers were re-orienting their focus to 2019 free agency. Perhaps we get off a few dollars this summer in order to get them off a few dollars the following summer:

Clarkson, Randle, KCP
for
Chandler, Dudley, Chriss

I've always liked Julius Randle.

Yup Ball Kuz or Ingram. We could be making a play for Randle but I wouldn't trade Chriss for him. Makes no sense though....

Yep. That's what makes sense. The Lakers do not want to re-up Randle because they want to go big in the free agent market. Chriss for Randle makes sense. They get a young player tied up for a few more years and do not have to invest big in him as a free agent this summer. McD loves trading for RFA's to be (Bledsoe, Knight).

BTW. Chriss, Dudley for Randle, Clarkson works.

One guys opinion, but I don't think Chriss has much value in the league. He's did make 1st team all american in the bon-bon league this summer. Set your expectations low and pray we can move the guy. If our Front Office believed in Chriss, there would be ZERO rumors like this... just saying.

Yes, this makes zero sense when they have too many PFs. Rumor is they had decided they were not so eager to trade Randle any more, and the main reason they wanted to get rid of him (other than to shed salary) was because they had Kuzma and Nance, Jr.

So with 3 PFs, where would that leave Chriss?

The only possibility would be us taking Randle back, because they would need to pay him and it would cut some cost, particularly for next year.

I don't see it and don't really like it. I guess if we wanted to play Randle at C with Bender at PF...or they might work well together. Also kind of opens up draft options, like taking Porter to play 4 or Bagley to play 4/5 or JJJ even to play stretch 4...if Randle was at 5.

But, it's Kyler, so it probably means nothing.

Despite everything, I think they like Chriss, but I guess there are signs that point to maybe them souring on him...Dudley has never spoken highly of him, and someone said something about Dudley's reaction to something Chriss may have said when going in at the end of the game...and then the weight issues, issues with staff, arguing with refs, etc.

But I would kind of hate giving up on such raw athletic talent like that. I wonder, if there is anything to it, what other teams are involved?

Edit: But I think it would just be Chriss for Randle...not all those other guys....zero chance they want Dudley and Chandler, unless they are completely giving up on 2018 free agency. It helps them for 2019 but hurts us, so no thanks on our part as well.

But hopefully we just hang on to Chriss....too much there to give up on.

Steve Kyler is awful, and unless Ball or Kuzma are coming back, or we want to gamble on some future unprotected 1sts, there is no reason for Phoenix to include Chriss for anybody else on that team. I could believe Phoenix might trade Chriss, but not to LAL. It just isn't a match.

Besides, this team is now just 0.5 games out of the 1st spot. Getting one of the top 2 spots in the lottery means a 60% chance of a top 3 pick. Imo, there are 3 players who have separated themselves as far as fit for this team and limited risk: Ayton, Doncic, Young. Getting a top 3 pick ensures one of those. I like Porter as well but his fit is less certain. Bamba is an obvious fit but his risk is higher than the other 3 imo.

If you really look at where Phoenix is as a team, the versatility of a number of the youngsters adds a lot of flexibility. And we should lean into that and see who we draft before going after any of these rumored targets. For instance, if we trade for Gordon and still have Bender, it limits the utility of one of them if we then draft a big. If we trade for Kemba we cannot really draft Young. I see a few people advocating for trading for somebody now under the guise that Booker would be upset, but that is insanity. Booker is under contract and even if he asked for a trade we wouldn't have to trade him. I don't believe any player will not sign a super max with a team just because they got help during the offseason instead of 75% of the way through an awful season.

See who you draft first (if it's Doncic or Young, go after Capela or Gordon in RFA and try to at worst get a S&T that is low because you already have them on a big deal,or save the cap space and lowball Okafor, Len, or Noel. If it's Ayton, maybe give Payton something below market or else wait until a Kemba or Lillard or McCollum or whoever becomes available). Point being, we definitely need a star this offseason or next, and we cannot predict the position of the one who will be next available, so giving up significant money or assets for anybody who limits our flexibility from a positional or monetary standpoint is the wrong way to go imo. If you aren't getting a Cousins (if his leg checks out) or George (not coming here anyways), I can get behind Capela or Gordon because both have athletic upside and the age to continue to improve quite a bit. I will never get behind those who want Marcus Smart, the worst shooter in the last 15 years. I also cannot get behind Avery Bradley, who is one of the worst guys to play in as many games as he has by the advanced numbers in recent years (something like 250 or 270 out of 300). Giving up anything above vet min money to either will limit our ability to get any of the FAs in 2019, when that FA class is much better and we should have a real opportunity to sell given Booker, Jackson, Warren, and this draft pick.

I stopped following Kyler on Twitter because the guy throws tons of nonsense out there that never comes true. I'm sure if the Suns got a killer offer that they would be willing to move Chriss, but I am also sure that if it happens that Kyler's report will be pure luck.

I stopped following him too...he was always just pretending he knew stuff...then I think got a job at USA Today because he started basketball insiders and then I heard him ask Pop one of the dumbest questions ever at a post game interview during the Heat/Spurs series.

He didn't last long at USA Today I don't believe.

The other thing with Randle and even Gordon, we have the cap space to just sign them this offseason, so why sacrifice Chriss just to get him 20 games earlier? We have the ability to make a very unattractive contract for either, and even before that is signed we can inform them of it and work out a sign and trade when we have more leverage this offseason.

Cap space is a real advantage this offseason and next. We should use it like one. We should not be trading guys with legitimate upside for the right to pay somebody this offseason when it seems really clear Randle doesn't want to stay with LA and Orlando doesn't want to pay Gordon what he is looking for.

Well out of the few responses i saw on the Lakers board, most dont like the idea of even trading Randle for Chriss, with one exception that thinks that they could turn him into more of a stretch 5.

Suns don't really need Hernangomez. Too many project players already. You can't really have 5 players developing. Because they make mistakes and the others are affected. You also need good examples on court and off court... Not just a bunch of 20 something year olds playing video games and going out to eat.

And why would the Lakers want Marquees Chriss?

I would take future pick, Brook Lopez and Clarkson for Chriss, Chandler and Knight.

Clarkson is young enough and pretty good guard too. Brook Lopez will help stretch the defenses out for sure and help protect the rim. A good piece if suns wants to field a competitive team next season.

I agree. I don't want to trade Chriss. I don't want Randle. I don't even want to use it on Gordon. I'll keep the cap space, and particularly would never trade for a RFA unless they were certain to be matched and there was no doubt we should and would pay them the max.

Lopez expires. Lakers won't swap him for Chandler who clogs the cap, and Knight who clogs it like Clarkson but is worse. They want cap space moreso than us (given they gave away DLo to rid themselves of Mozgov).

Plus, just because we traded for Lopez doesn't mean he'd resign with us (nor should he really be the type of guy we should go after at his age) even though I like his skillset now having added the 3 ball.

Not saying a chriss deal is out of the question but kyler is typically full of ****.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.
