Fan of both and would both be worse off if they switched places. Steven Adams though is legit. If we're talking about an OKC Big3, he should be the third name mentioned not Melo.

Seeing this thread, it's funny to think that some people are bemoaning the death of the big man in the modern NBA. Centers who didn't make the all-star team this year include Capela, Adams, Jokic, Gobert, Marc Gasol, DJ, D12 and Whiteside. Look at some of the centers who made the all-star team in the 00s:

Brad Miller, Antonio Davis, Zydrunus Ilgauskas, Jamaal Magloire, Mehmet Okur, Vlade Divac, Dale Davis. Those were the guys next up after the fixtures like Shaq, Yao, D12 and Big Ben. I'm not saying those guys were bad players, but they pale in comparison to the group of centers who were left out of this year's game. And next year is going to bring in more fantastic big man talent including Ayton, Bagley and Bamba. The death of the big man has been called prematurely; in fact the overall talent in big men is probably at an all-time high.

Lolwut?

Jamal Mashburn was a SF. Nowadays he'd probably play the 4 but he was nowhere close to being a Center.

Whoops. Yeah that was an error, which will now be edited out of existence. For some reason my brain has always had a propensity to think "Jamaal Magloire" when it saw "Jamal Mashburn".

Numbers for Capela may be better, but man...I'd much rather have Steven Adams. I love watching him play, such a strong presence in the paint defensively, grabbing rebounds, hustling, setting strong screens. Those don't show up in the numbers but I think he is the KEY for OKC

I was just thinking of this today.

Dont think either trade would take this deal if it were a 1 on 1 trade.
Adams is slightly better imo because of his offensive edge that extends beyond being just a pnr lob threat

What's better: well-prepared steak, chicken, fish, etc? It is a matter of taste.

Recently, Steven Adams toyed with the Wizards. Also, I love the way he stepped in after a fan was on the court in Russell Westbrook's face. What's not to like about Adams?

Clint Capela? I don't know much about him. When Harden, Paul together with Capela start the Rockets win.

Adams this isn't even close and a prime example why numbers don't tell the whole story.

it used to be Adams by quite a but.
But Capela has made steady improvements in his game each year and the gap is narrowing.

Adams brings the power and the athleticsm. More system fits. Harden and CP3 make others better. Westbrook IMO steals your stats through his style of play and hustle.

Adams is pulling down 8.0 offensive rebounds per 100 possessions.

For reference, Dennis Rodman's career average was 7.8 per 100 possessions (peaking at 9.0).
