I like it. Knew it was only a matter of time before SVG and Nelson reunited.

Re: Pistons Trade for Jameer Nelson
solid move. not a groundbreaking move, but it helps. im pleased. probably our only move unless we can clear a roster spot and wait for some players to get cut/bought out.

Re: Pistons Trade for Jameer Nelson
Nelson is basically cooked at this point, but for the rest of the season having Jameer is better than having Reed.

Re: Pistons Trade for Jameer Nelson
Willie Reed seemed like a decent backup center. I don't really like it. But whatever.

Re: Pistons Trade for Jameer Nelson
Backup center here just isn't a big role anyways with Dre and Blake usually being staggered there at all times for the most part

I'm not a fan but he will only play on February anyways.
I don't like the idea to roll with only Blake and Dre at C thought...
At least it seems like we're active today!

While I don't mind Van Gundy and Nelson reuniting, I wish we would have waited to see if he got bought out instead of giving up what could be a valuable player for him.

Re: Pistons Trade for Jameer Nelson
Man, this trade couldn't happen two days ago to Willie Reed could have been a Chicago Bull when he was suspended.
Jameer is finished. I don't necessarily get it, other than as insurance against Reggie not coming back or something.
Nelson would have been cut, I guess the idea is Reed would have been cut for us to sign Jameer anyways, so just make the trade.

Re: Pistons Trade for Jameer Nelson
Nelson and Reed's cap numbers are within a couple thousand of each other, so this doesn't really effect toe'ing the tax line or looking for potential buyout candidates.

Moreland is signed cheaply though two more seasons. For a 3rd string center he's the right price. No more $7M third stringers.

Re: Pistons Trade for Jameer Nelson
Willie reed is expiring and suspended anyways. I mean he had no future here especially with Moreland locked in on a dirt cheap 3 year deal too just take whatever mins are left over

Who cares? Both are trash anyways. Needed an extra PG.

How is a 4th string center with an expiring contract and currently on suspension, a "valuable" player?

We gain about $50K even. But issue with buyout candidate is who do you cut? Brice Johnson I guess is easy enough. We'd be down to five bigs though -
