NYPost: Future Knicks Coaching Candidates

Post#1 » by MP4LIFE » Thu Feb 8, 2018 4:22 pm

Mark Jackson is an obvious candidate to be the Knicks next coach, because team president Steve Mills wanted to interview him in 2014 before Phil Jackson hired Derek Fisher. Doc Rivers could spring free with the Clippers’ tricky post-Blake-Griffin situation. Mike Brown is doing a lot of winning as an assistant in Golden State. And former Cavs coach David Blatt is one of Mills’ closest friends.

Isola has already brought up Jackson earlier this year so there is definitely truth to it.

Everyone hates Isola, including me, but he's usually right on his rumors.

If the front office has a brain (yeah, I know they don’t) they’ll be looking at David Fizdale. Dude got a raw deal in Memphis. At that teams best, they were maybe a 2 Guard upgrade and a bench away from being the best team in the West. And they always played defense.

I like Mark Jackson because he will instill a defensive mindset and hopefully make us tougher, but his offense in GS was ancient and held them back...maybe he learned from his mistakes?

The league is funny. On one hand the sheer size and financial earning power makes you think everybody in this small circle must all be elite at what they do from a front office stand point. Then you look at the moves and decisions these people make and they all look like idiots. I mean why are so many organizations in a hurry to hire proven bad coaches?

I've said it before but Mark Jackson isn't a coach. He is a Christian motivational speaker. Doc Rivers and Mike Brown are also do-do. I'd be happy with Blatt or Fizdale.

Perry will likely get one shot at a coaching change and with KP out next year he'd be smart to keep Hornacek through what will be another rebuilding year.

It's sad.

You have all these bright young minds around the league as assistant coaches and we consistently target mediocre to terrible retread coaches with no potential to improve.

Bad ownership breeds bad management, which breeds these awful head coaching hires we always have.

Thats a good point. On the flip side though, it could be a chance to hire a coach with limited expectations for year 1 with KP being absent/not fully healthy.

Keep Hornecek until 2020. We need to tank and he's the worst coach in the league. But Mark Jackson wouldn't be a bad tank commander either.

Warriors fans hated Jackson before he was fired. NO. NO. NO.

Would rather have Blatt.
