I love how all of Amico's scoops, even about the Cavs, come from other news sources when he's based out of Cleveland.

Re: Trade Ideas (Part III)
In an ideal world, LeBron waives his NTC and Cavs send him (and maybe his buddy Wade? and Rose?) to Lakers for something like Ingram + bad contract (Deng + Clarkson?). Picks (Cavs 1st? Lakers future 1st?) and other young pieces (Randle? Nance?) can be added as needed to balance out value. LeBron then commits to opt in to his contract and re-sign with the Lakers after that.
Cavs can then focus on their rebuild with the Ingram and the BKN 1st, which are also both on cheap contracts, allowing them to ride out the team's bad contracts (Deng, Clarkson, TT, JR). IT can walk, and Love can either remain, or be traded for more assets to help the rebuild. Either way, Cavs say goodbye (or good riddance?) to the LeBron era and start anew with a solid core, as long as they don't screw up with the BKN pick.
For Lakers, they essentially flip their bad contracts into LeBron, at the cost of Ingram. With their own expiring contracts, they will then have enough room to potentially sign TWO additional big name FAs (PG, DMC?). Their starting lineup will basically be DMC/Kuzma/LeBron/PG/Ball, allowing them to contend immediately, while still having Kuzma and Ball for the future.
Win-win for both Cavs and Lakers. But of course this won't happen, because:
-LeBron is a selfish prick, who doesn't care if his old team rots, he'll just leave if he suits him
-Lakers is greedy, in their mind why give up Ingram to get LeBron when they can potentially just sign him outright

IN an ideal world people stop assuming trading the GOAT would ever make sense.
Just stop

Re: Trade Ideas (Part III)
If we are looking to move TT for DJ and a 3rd team is involved maybe these 2 deals with Chicago are possible;https://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/7019108 in this one LAC gets Cavs 2018 1st Chicago gets Miami 2nd. ( they would have to want TT)
https://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/7019103 This one Bulls get Cav's first.
LAC get Miami 2nd and a lottery protected future.
I am not advocating this, and don't like it really. But as it stands if any of these rumors are true it seems possible Chicago is one of the few teams that might want Thompson.
If it were me I would offer Frye and the 1st for Dedmon who has been a better defender inside 5 feet than DJ this season and is on a team friendly salary. Moving Thompson could happen this summer after we know where we are headed https://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/7019144

Re: Trade Ideas (Part III)
SO I am guess we are not done dealing maybe flipping Clarkson? I get getting a larger guard to replace IT3 and Nance is a solid player around the basket but has zero shooting ability etc. I don't see Clarkson as the answer defensively at the 1 but he does play with a lot of fire and energy so maybe that's all we could get. Not sold I would have included the 1st though for this return without having another deal lined up. 2.5 hrs to go.

Re: Trade Ideas (Part III)
^^ it aint over until 3pm. IT3 was playing like Garbage. Nance is a solid defender and Clarkson brings a lot of energy something this old team could use more of. I don't hate the deal, just don't think we are done either.

There's nothing there to entice any other teams to trade with cleveland, so it looks like you guys are done

Flip Clarkson along with Crowder or similar for a center or pg.
We also have future 1sts that could come into play which hold value as Lebron has not committed bewyond this season and teams could bank on him leaving making those picks more valuable. and we have the the Miami 2020 2nd.
I don't expect a blockbuster. We also don't know what the protections are on the Cavs outgoing 2018 first not that changes the rules.
We were never trading the Nets pick.
I think it we could also use a tpe.
I think we could get Evans for the Miami 2nd if we send them a player they want (Zizic) as it is clear noone is giving up a first.
