Phoenix owns a pick from a Memphis deal

2018 second round draft pick from Memphis, Charlotte or Miami (second most favorable)
Memphis will receive the most favorable of its 2018 2nd round pick, Charlotte's 2018 2nd round pick and Miami's 2018 2nd round pick and Phoenix will receive the second most favorable and Houston will receive the least favorable of these three picks (via Memphis) [Charlotte-Memphis-Miami, 2/16/2016; Houston-Memphis, 6/22/2017; Memphis-Phoenix, 9/22/2017]

HOWEVER, Media might be mistaking hat pick for Phoenix's own which goes to Memphis if it is 56-60

2018 second round draft pick to Memphis
Phoenix's 2018 2nd round pick to Memphis protected for selections 31-55 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Phoenix's obligation to Memphis will be extinguished) [Memphis-Phoenix, 9/22/2017]

Which would mean Phoenix keeps pick if it's 31-55 and would easily have been able to be traded.

It makes me believe Media got this one messed up and Orlando could have two very high seconds.

Memphis pick is only if it's second most favorable.

However, it could actually be Phoenix's 2018 second.

I wonder if he'll take his nba career more seriously now and cut his hair and play harder more consistently. Sometimes all it takes for a slowly developing player to wake up is to feel disrespected by a trade or two...

Could've been in that mold, if he actually had a motor

Yeah, alot of us were wrong about him on here which is a shame, wish him well.

Also guessing he gets a haircut and we get to find out if that theory holds any weight.

I remember his performance at the skills challenge a few years ago, he played his round against Teague and you could tell he didn't care. He just laughed it off.

At the time I thought "thats fine... he plays his ass off when it matters"

Now I look back and realize I should have been more worried. He has motivation issues and lacks the killer instinct to be great.

I hope he sees this trade as the insult it is, you just got traded for a seconder and you're still on your rookie contract.
let paid professionals do their job, don't you try and do it for them...

Does make his tweets last night look like he may have been venting upon being informed, but idk. I remember AAA did that then deleted his twitter and was traded shortly after.
Woj is the new Bucher. Shams is the new Woj. Espn is the new TMZ. The NBA is the new WWE.

I’m actually glad we traded him. He had obviously reached his potential here. We need to bring in guys who have no concept of 25 win seasons and guys who play with purpose. The only guy we have like that is Jonathan Simmons.

This confirms two things in my eyes.

My source is actually legit.

That the Doncic/Young era is near us.

We were not gonna sign him back. I think they like DJ as the back up going forward. So they got some value for him even though it wasn't much. The value for a average point guard who can't shoot just wasn't gonna be high. I wish Elf well but it is time to move on.

Great, so we have our backup situation solved. How about that starter though? I know what you're about to say, "we're clearly going after Young." But what if we don't land Young for one reason or another? Our starting PG for next year is either DJ, Mack, or Iwundu. Yikes.

First round picks are getting so overvalued. It became so hard to get one and teams are asking everything and kitchen sink for them these days. After the draft, year or two in, you can get non-lottery first round picked players for scraps.

It's not a forgone conclusion, we could end up with the worst record in the NBA and pick 4th in the draft. We could also get back to full health, which is going to be pretty soon, and win ourselves out of the top 5. So many variables to just throw an asset away.

I think chances are high that one of those two will be available at our slot, unless we go on a win streak without Elf.
