How can you knock the Cavs' young role players for having no playoff experience, when we're rolling with OG/Siakam/FVV/Wright/Poeltl, who have what, 200 minutes of playoff minutes combined?

Rodney Hood actually has more playoff minutes than those 5 combined.

Yup they'll still beat us in 4 or 5. They got better.

The cavs traded a bunch of negatives for guys that can contribute. I’d say they’re back to being the favourites to win the conference.

On paper.

Chemistry still matters. They might pull it off but this is a huge roster turnover. It not an easy fix. Lebron is Lebron but team defense matters. Even the **** teams he carried into championships had good defense.

Lets see how this pans out before we even speculate. Give credit to their gm for doing whatever he could to go for it all.

Im not convinced clarkson or nance do much for them. George hill will help, but he hasnt played great for over a year. Hood helps them alot with consistency on 3pts. They wont win a ship with this team but atleast they improved

Surprised they had to give up 1st. They gon a regret that.

Hill will be a massive upgrade from IT defensively n Hood should offer a lot more than any of the washed up SGs they've had. I really wouldn't worry about chemistry when there aren't any big egos like IT coming in n won't be surprised when they add Lopez n upgrade their C position as well.

With Love out, the Cavs are going to have to play Lebron 40 mpg on the regular for them to maintain their standing. Hopefully, it will wear him down.

The Cavs have gotten much better defending the point of attack with Hill so that will take some defensive pressure off of their bigs but it's all about Lebron. If Lebron is willing, the Cavs will go as far as he can carry them.

The underrated move in all this is the cavs losing channing frye. Without him, and with love getting back on the court right for the start of the playoffs, means cavs will have nearly no front court shooting. Thats always been an issue for this team. This does, imo, make JV an even bigger threat to them, since he wont be as compelled to come out to the perimeter to try and guard one of love or frye.

Raptors likely bode better with how we played when we had Biyombo, where one C is always deep in the post manning the paint while the rest switch and guard the perimeter.

They've definitely gotten more shooting and D in the backcourt, but there are only so many minutes. And i think a guy like Powell can be better utilized defensively now when we face them.

Good thing is that we have two more games against them near the end of this season, so Raps will have a good look at them after they've had a few games to settle in and acclimate. Shoukd allow for better team planning against them for the playoffs.

told you

George Hill, Larry Nance and Rodney ****ing Hood are scary players now

Hill has the highest 3 point shooting % in the NBA
Hood is shooting 39% from 3

Hill can defend Lowry A LOT better than IT ever could.

Game becomes simpler for Cavs, Lebron will go ham and draw attention from multiple defenders. He then kicks it out to an open 3 point shooter.

It won't take them long to gel on offence at all.

Trading Frye was interesting to me. Thought they were most dangerous with him as the stretch five. Love can do it in theory, but Frye at least provided some rim protection. These trades were more about having a plan for the future in the event Lebron leaves than winning this year IMO.

And they'll be tasked to get back on defense and hit their open jumpers. The LBJ system is foolproof.

They don't have an answer for JV or Greg Monroe for that matter. Which is why they will get Brook Lopez for free.

this isn't really comparable to Lebron working out the chemistry in 2010 with Miami or 2014 with Cleveland. I hope people recognize the difference between him converging up with 2 other ball dominant players both times who were used to being the #1 scoring options, and had to figure out playing off-ball.

Not to mention Hill locking up Lowry.

They started Love at centre all year. I don't think they roll out the lineup that you think. IMO they will play;

Love/LBJ/Hood/JR/Hill to start most of the time as long as they get Love back in time. This lineup doesn't makes him a threat as much as it makes him a problem, because yeah he has to guard either Love or James on the perimeter.

We could really punish that tandem in the paint offensively, except we're not really big on exploiting post matchups...and if Ibaka actually had an inclination to work in the post.

Instead, we'd see Love guarding Jonas and Jonas getting a touch here and there. And Lebron guarding Ibaka at the 3 point line.
