lol 2nd rounder

So we have like a 1% chance of drafting someone who doesn't suck AND remains on our roster more than a year or two.

I really wonder what AG thinks about the trade, they looked to be really close.

Mario too, he went to Elf's mom's house for that 1 show

I get it. He was gonna be gone this summer anyway and they just wanted to get something back for him. But considering that we traded up for Payton, and what those picks turned into.... this is disappointing. Had the pleasure of meeting Elfrid during his time here, and he seemed like a great kid. Wish him the best in Phoenix.

Why

Our culture is a mess, continuing the way we were going would be even worse than upsetting someone.

Because Gordon is one of the few players who has a future. I don’t think Elf being in Orlando is the problem, Elf starting is the problem, he’s a back up. We need guys who want to play together.

Gordon's mindset needs to be altered too, we've had a toxic culture of guys forcing shots or not getting the ball and Gordon's been raised in that. If his mindset is so fragile that trading away one player is going to push him over the edge that's a big red flag on his character.

It's a mess, we keep wasting 1st rounders - years of rebuilding and nothing to show for it

The worst part is we are heading into an easier stretch while our guys are going to be healthy, yet again we will probably end up with a record just too good for a top 3 pick and just outside the real franchise talent.

What makes it worse is that we didn't even get the most favorable pick of theirs.

You’re right, I’m just clinging onto what little hope we have. Thank you

Ok, this is what actually scares me, do we dare to tank properly?

This is just affirmation management wasn’t going to resign him. They got “something” for what was going to be nothing this summer. They likely couldn’t get a player(s) worth the salary back so this was the deal of last resort.

That said... a second round pick for a lottery pick and a traded first is pathetic return in investment.

Yep. Sheesh.

We didn't want to lose him for nothing - but we still wasted a lottery pick on him, wasted 4 years developing him, wasted 4 years of Magic basketball, and only got a 2nd rounder out of it for our troubles.

Which we'll probably do nothing with, because it's a 2nd rounder and we're the Orlando Magic.

We are the Cleveland Browns of the NBA.

I wouldn't say it assures us another Iwundu or McCaskill. I would say that it is likely but there is some chance that you can find a better player then that. How much better is up for debate and I am not saying we get a Draymond Green or a Rashard Lewis but maybe a decent backup who could be a part of the rotation. Which is kind of what Payton very well could have been going forward. Plus this deal helps our cap situation and could even help the tank(tho I think it won't but we shall see). But I have said don't expect much in return and this just confirms what I have been talking about. Not every player we trade away will be like Dipo(which I do think we undersold but as too how much is still up for debate as I want to see at least another year on Dipo till I am sure he is an all-star, though I think he is very deserving of the one he got this year). I didn't think Payton had a lot of value. He had some and that's why we got something.

I don't like when people say that we should have done better as you don't know what was actually offered and I don't think our GM would pass up some of the trades we have posted on here and that some of those never even materialized. I am not surprised by this trade. Contracts matter more than people think. Draft picks matter more than people think. That is why it is a second rounder instead of late first. But that isn't all we got as we got savings as we don't have to worry about extending both him and Gordon. It helps our future cap picture. It doesn't give us the space to sign someone significant this summer but maybe in years after as we continue to draft talent and make some other trades or low budget/high reward moves. So we shall see as I would have liked to see more but I realized that it probably wasn't likely and it still remains about the future for me and that is what we should be thinking about. I am fine with this deal and we will see how it fares as we don't know how it will.

At this point we need to follow what other teams do and just sit guys and blatantly tank. We avoided it previously and that's part of why we are were we are.

My parents renewed their Disney passes down at the Arena allowing me to get 2 basically free jerseys. I picked Isaac and Gordon as they were the only two i was confident with. Then the Gordon trade rumors surfaced lol.. but I'm good I think.

Do the jerseys at Amway have the Disney logo on them? If so, I gotta make another trip.
