The point is you would have to pay Hood and his ceiling is a lot lower than Jabaris. If both are healthy the superior player isn't even questionable.

Should we try and get Rose now as a stop gap backup PG to bandaid the next month without Delly and Brogdon? I'm mulling it over and can't figure out if it's wise or not. He showed interest in Milwaukee and he would certainly come dirt cheap now he's been traded and released.... anyone have an opinion on this?

Hard pass. I think there's a good chance Rose is done for good. He might retire.

Rodney Hood could easily have a far better career than Jabari. He certainly has so far.

Just sayin.

True, true. And Tony Snell could have a better career than both of them. That's not the point. The point is, you wouldn't have had to trade Jabari to get Rodney Hood.

Not sure i agree, but moving on.

It just seems like they get fleeced on every damn trade. Just weird. I would have loved that deal for them if they kept that pick which they should have.

I don't think it particularly matters. It's going to be what - 26th at worst? Let's be real probably 29th.
The statistical difference between picking that low and picking in the second, in terms of finding productive players, is pretty much negligible.

They can buy into the second round if they love someone (their second is going to Philly or Charlotte), and they have the Nets pick anyway - top ten, maybe top five, maybe first!

I think their pick is going to end up 22-25 at worst. It's going to take them time to gel and their record atm is 31-22.

Thsi draft is incredibly deep, impact players can be had at that range that are not usually there on different drafts.

I don't think they can buy a 2nd because they maxed it out when they bought Felder and it only resets after the draft.

Oh yeah I always forget that it goes on team record rather than playoff results. Is it deep? All I've heard is that it's a 6-7 player draft and not great outside of that.

Felder was drafted in 2016 so that wouldn't prevent them buying this year. I just searched around and with today's Hill/Hood trade they used the final $2.1m of the max annual cash limit. The other $3m was used to send Felder/RJ to the Hawks.

The cavs had 3 stars last year. This year they had in theory 3 stars with IT. He's played more to my expectations, being not a star. None the less after this trade they have 2. They got some solid players with guys like Hood and Clarkson but we will have to see if that is enough.

I would have tried to package IT and someone for a more proven all-star level player.

I don't see it happening this year for the cavs.

Going back to last night's Cavs game. How in the **** did the ref not call Lebron for a travel here? He traveled not once, but twice. And it couldn't be more blatant. My God.

its a bad day for the theory about delly only looking good playing alongside lebron because he could make anyone look good

D Rose and IT join deron williams in the lebron didnt make good category, next up its the hill/hood and remember that the benchmark is sweeping through the eastern conference finals and winning 2 games against the warriors

I just caught that the Cavs and Jazz are swapping second round picks 6 years from now. Game changer.

Yeah I mean I'm certainly not gonna argue with you or ever defend Rose.. Just an idea that crossed my mind when I saw he was already released and we didn't make a trade for any guard depth given our situation right now. Rose did stink it up with Cleveland, chances are he'd continue to stink. Never know tho I guess.

I saw someone on Twitter say something about buyouts being the new way to tank going forward and it makes sense. If you're out of it and in cap hell, cut your suffering time by burning some cash now to free next season and beyond. It's a pricey option, but it's the fastest way to a clean slate for new management to work with in summer.

Which means, of course, that a bunch of useful players are about to be bought out and cheaply available for the rest of this season. Would the Bucks be willing to cut/buy someone out to pick up one of these useful players?

I say that we DO know, and pretty definitively, that Rose is never going to be very good again.

Listening to Rusillo on the Simmons pod. He brought up a great point about how Isaiah Thomas has to be devastated with how his future bank account fell apart.

Last May the guy played his heart out, had a season for the ages and looked poised to demand from Boston a 4/$80-100mm deal.

Nine months later he can't walk and just got tossed from Cleveland. He'll be lucky to get 1/$10 from someone this summer.

Yea I get wanting another ballhandler for sure but Rose is just way too far off at this point. Abysmal defense, awful fit on offense, and strong possibility of off-court/locker room BS. Haven't seen too much of Jameer this year but if he's still passable he was the type of guy to target imo.

Playing in the playoffs, especially the ECF, may have cost him his career. I hope he looks better next season with a full offseason of extra time to recover because he was such an exciting player to have in the league last year.

The moment Derrick Rose went for vacation when playing for the Knicks should have been obvious to everyone that he is not an NBA player.

He did the same thing at the Cavs.

If a team even thinks of adding Derick Rose at their roster, their FO should be instantly fired.

lol dude, nobody is making Rose look good. He is a very bad basketball player. Nothing has changed since last season in that regard.

As for IT - he can't hit a shot, which you can't blame anyone but him for, and has always been one of the worst defenders around. If he isn't scoring at above average efficiency he offers nothing at all.

im not blaming lebron, im taking a shot at people who think delly is trash who was only lucky to play alongside lebron

actually the benchmark for hill is winning a finals game at golden state with love out and lebron shooting 11-35
