This pick is not Brooklyn's, is it?

Neither Trent and Bridges are dropping in the 20's. And if we get Lebron and George, we have a glut of wings.

Lebron/George/Ingram/Kuzma/Hart. More than enough to hold down the fort.

We actually have a need at backup PG and C most likely.

I said it in the IT trade thread. Khyri Thomas, Trevon Duval, Landry Shamet and Tony Carr are all in our range and I think either of them can contribute right away as a 15 min guy when Lonzo sits.
I mean, look at us right now. We have Lonzo out and playing Hart and Ingram at point because Ennis is utter trash and Caruso is a 2 way player who probably isn't going to be good enough to get a solid backup spot.
We need a PG in the worst way, and I don't know what we could get on the open market for the peanuts left after we splash the money on the afromentioned guys from above.

As far as C's, I like Metu as a guy who can see some minutes right away, but if we're vying for a young prospect with untapped potential Brandon McCoy or Austin Wiley could be our guys.

We already have Zubac and Bryant as our bigman projects. We should get a wing or a more preferably, a guard.

I only bolded Bridges and Trent because they are ideal fits for me. We're talking about building a bench behind LeBron and George here, so familiarity, experience, and specialized skills are key. Trent can shoot lights out, would love to have him. Bridges can do it defensively, run the floor, and shoot the three ball. Metu is a favorite of mine as well... another Capela type player who can come in and contribute immediately.

Use the pick to clear Deng for cap space.

Don't get me wrong, I like them as well, but odds are significantly low either one drops to our picking spot. They're at least 10 picks away in my book, far to many to hope that many teams pass on them.

We need some more realistic targets.

That's why Rob tried to trade Randle for a 1st rounder. Deng, Cavs pick, and 1st rounder via Randle trade for an expiring contract (Al Jefferson?) and a 2nd would've gotten the job done. Oh man, we would've cleared up so much space.

If you guys dont trade the pick to get rid of Deng, I think two Dukies will be available when that Cavs pick comes around. Duval is a really athletic and long PG that can defend, run the PnR and attack the basket with ease. He might be a solid backup for Ball especially if Ball's injuries becomes a worry. I think Gary Trent might be a great fit for you guys to go with your young core. Trent is a really talented perimeter scorer and the dude can really shoot. I think Hart is the perfect starting SG for you guys going forward with this young core, I think Trent can be a great scorer off the bench. Another one to keep an eye on is Mitchell Robinson.

Well I thought this year I would take off the draft but now that we got a pick i will do my research.

I am thinking the pick is in the 20's as the Cavs will be a top team in the east still.

To me, the best case scenario in terms of Free agency is obviously Lebron and PG, and a very good but far more likely scenario is PG, keeping Randle, and keeping Lopez (or signing a lopez replacement with the remainder of the cap). If we have Lebron and PG, the pick should be used on a center imo. Zubac and Bryant just haven't shown enough yet for me to consider that position locked down. If situation 2 happens, we would probably need help in the backcourt. Like others have said, we are fine wing wise with Hart's emergence.

so for me, the two types of players we should be looking for are:

Mobile athletic Center....bonus points for being able to space the floor. A Bam Adebayo type prospect, or a Jarett Allen type considering draft position.

3 and D point guard, who can run back up point reasonably, while also atleast capable of playing with Lonzo for some stretches. A Tyus Jones type player...A dfish type. Basically a Josh Hart whose a natural 1, rather than a 2, but could play the 2 if required.

I think that's really the need, but if you can find Kuz level gold late in the draft you take it and run....of course, the dream scenario is finding Kuz level gold in one of those positions of need.

I haven't followed the late first round prospects at all this year....is there anyone that fits the mold?

Given its the bottom end of the first unless everything really goes south now, Landry Shamet from Witchita State i think would be a Ryan West type pick. Tony Carr out of penn state may be worth a shout. Khyri Thomas also could be solid also.

Have been watching a lot of Trent Jr...he's a good shooter has good size and NBA genes. We need a real SG and that position should be our sole focus.

trevon duval could be a good pick. good 2 way guard with high upside, kind of similar to gary payton jr. but much younger. good back up for zo plus a duke guy so he'll get along pretty well with bi.

but who knows, maybe we're scouting another gem right now.

Let’s use the pick to sale Dengs contract. And undo the last mistake of the Jim Buss era.

I don't know about that. Lakers got the steal of the draft with Kuz and looks like Hart is coming around as well, all late picks. I say let's find serviceable C who can rebound and protect the rim. Besides I don't think any team is desperate enough for a FRP to eat Deng's contract.
