No, the deal was a win-win.

The Wizards paid Atlanta cash, probably slightly more cash than it would have cost them to pay Mac. But with the luxtax savings, the Wizards end up saving more than they gave Atlanta.

The only losers in the transaction are the other 24 or so under-the-luxtax teams in the league who now have $3.0M less in luxtax distributions to spread around.

I'm glad you understand it. Good for Ernie grunfeld and good for Atlanta.

I just want Sheldon Mac to get healthy because I think the guy can play in the league for a while.

I would love to see Mac back in the offseason. But would he want to come back and try to break into Scott Brooks lineup? He might want to try elsewhere.

I am glad that EG did a little move and not some big tragic move that would kill the Wizards even more in the future. This mediocre team sucks us in and grinds our hearts up but at least they're mediocre. A tiny bit of savings on the cap is fine on trade deadline. Scott Brooks was never going to play Sheldon Mac so he might as well have been traded..If and when he heals (Achilles just like Boogie??) I hope Mac tries out for another team and makes it.
