Either they didn’t listen to their agents or they got BAD advice.

To be honest I still really don’t miss KCP.

Their agent is Rich Paul/Klutch Sports.

Didn't know Shabazz had Klutch too. So between those two and Noel, why would anyone dare sign with that agency?

Paying Griff and Dre so much means a lot of our players will be vet minimum and other cheap contracts and rookie deals.

Buycks is under contract for next season. Unguaranteed, but Detroit has him if they want him.

Opposing execs have been impressed by guard Dwight Buycks (13 points on 52 percent shooting over the last five games). July is a long way away but several execs see Buycks as a player who will be sought after in the open market by teams that don’t have significant cap space.

Spotrac and Bobby Marks are both pegging Buycks as a RFA. Also don't know why ESPN would report that quote on Buycks if he wasn't going to be a FA this summer.

I think we might have only given up one second rounder. Not positive but I read Chicago second rounder is a right to swap, and then the Memphis pick is was that same pick involved with Chicago. If we finish worse than Chicago - they swap and then Chicago pick goes to Memphis. And if we finish better than Chicago they don't swap and then our pick goes to Memphis.

That was my understanding as well.

I remember that day. Detroit converted Buycks from a two-way player to a regular contract player a few hours after that article. It was kind of funny timing, and hence Marks' tweet the same day (January 12th) after 6. The contract details didn't come out until a few days later.

Yes, Detroit only gave up one second round pick yesterday. Memphis is getting the pick that Chicago has the option to swap with in 2022. So for all intents and purposes the pick swap with Chicago doesn't really matter anymore since Memphis is getting it regardless.

Marks works for ESPN so he has access to all of their sources. I'm sure ESPN could have learned about the signing and contract details prior to the team announcing it.

It just seems to be a matter of differing info depending on where you look. Obviously the cheap partially guaranteed contract for next year would benefit the team more than the RFA status.

Pincus' sources are just as good, and probably the same as Marks' since it's all the same info for the most part. Bobby hasn't/doesn't really follow up with anything either like he did with Yahoo since ESPN doesn't have that kind of content. Eric is legit and has been doing this for a while now. His info at Basketball Insiders has been impeccable since I learned of him (had to look around after Shams and Storyteller stopped doing contract stuff).
