Cousins will set the market for sure. That's crazy money tho (Jimmy G) for still an unknown commodity. Yes, I know he played well for SF down the stretch. But, that was only for like a handful of games, if that. Unreal...

Congrats to Jimmy and the 49ers fans for locking up a foundation pieces for many years. I hope he stays healthy!

congrats to both sides. yes 49ers overpaid, but look at this: they can now go into the draft AND free agency period knowing they have their QB spot locked up. That totally changes the draft board to focus on other positions. I feel like that knowledge is worth overpaying for.

Regardless, I still cannot believe he is on the 49ers for just a 2nd rounder, Belichick gave a favor to Shanahan and it sucks for the other teams who wanted jimmy g

49ers still have the second most cap space in the league... I actually expect them to be relatively quite this offseason so that more cap space will carry over next year. the 49ers looked liked a 10-6 team with Jimmy at the helm. Add another solid draft class and the 49ers should be OK roster wise

Niners didnt do anything, Belichick called Shanahan and asked for a 2nd rd pick....Belichick sold him low out of spite to get back at Kraft for making him trade him

Way too much given how short the sample size is. Just continues to set a bad precedent for the rest of the league. When Drew Brees signed his record deal, the Saints went in the tank. Ditto for the Ravens when they gave Flacco all that money. It's hard to put talent around you when your eating all the $$

That's why I love guys like Brady, Peyton and Romo. They were always willing to take a haircut if it meant adding to the team. They weren't looking to milk every last dollar

I know, its a cheap way to get a headline. Every good QB that signs will be signing the biggest contract in NFL history
