McDonough said on Doug and Wolf that he would entertain at some level - trading a talented young player for another talent young player if it was at a better position.

I immediately thought TJ Warren.

Too bad the Celtics could whip any offer we have for AD. Dame isn't going anywhere and I'd certainly be careful about a guy like John Wall, doesn't seem like a great locker room presence from what I've read.

Cant' see Lillard or Davis being moved. Wall isn't worth his contract. McD is always going to make things sound good. And yeah, we don't have the assets to make a move unless we trade our pick or Booker or another unprotected pick which would be unwise. Maybe not for Davis, but again, I don't think he will be moved. They've tried to hard to build around him, and Cousins getting injured gives them somewhat of an excuse for not making playoffs if they don't make it. If they re-sign Cousins, they will keep it together..and apparently they really like playing together.

This is just Sidery's point of view, of course. I agree it looks like we will go all-in, but it most likely will be a mix of trades and FA signings, not so sure about any All-Stars.

Adding another high level player will help JJ, Bender, and Chriss take a big step forward. Just dont know if there are any realistic targets this summer.

I think what's also important is his improvement over the past two seasons...this season especially in his shooting. His career numbers are down-graded by his first two years, which at this point, account for 60% of his numbers. There's a big difference between a 97 ORtg his rookie season in twice the minutes played as this season so far, while his Assts/Stls/Blks remain virtually unchanged, even if his DRtg decreased some. Some other factors at play, I'm sure.

He's not a 3PT shooter; that's the big 'Ah, crap' with Payton, as we could REALLY use a 3PT shooter...like REALLY...like..A LOT. But I do not foresee Payton being a hurdle to our plans for drafting a PG this Summer; in fact, I expect to grab a couple, still.

But overall, to me, where this really helps is in the development of our youth. Maybe not, but I think having a no kidding distributor/floor general will really help these guys out quite a bit.

Shabazz Napier was a thread favourite a while back:

Last 10 games: 6 points, 1 assist @ 30% FG (22 minutes).

Say we land the #1 pick this year, doesn't that become a very attractive piece for the Pels to part with AD?

#1, Chriss, Chandler and the Bucks pick for AD. I don't think there'll be many better offers than that.

Have to say this is the year is the year we could out bid the Celtics on a trade offer. Looks like they will miss out on the Lakers pick this year and get the Kings pick next year. A top three pick in this draft is an amazing trade piece.

But of the Suns end up with the fist overall would you even trade that for AD or Kawahi?

Wouldn't NO also want one of Booker, Jackson or Warren?

The last no.1 picks traded were Anthony Bennett and Markelle Fultz.

The reasons you might not are length of control (8-9 years vs 2-3) and that it would probably require the #1 and Booker to get a guy like AD. None of our other guys have much trade value imo.

And if the Spurs part with Kawhi, I would fear his injury is not something you want to deal with..obviously something is wrong there.

Anyway, the Pelicans are not trading AD. They have been desperately building around him and have him for 3 more seasons. Why the hell would they trade away a top 10 player that early?

Love was traded for #1, Bennett (already a bust) and Thad Young. I think AD would fetch a similar / slightly better haul.

If top 20 players are that cheap shouldn't we trade for 3-4 of them and be done?

No, Davis is looked upon like the second coming in some circles, love was never seen that way. He'd garner a massive haul.

I don't see davis that way, because of being injury prone, especially being so young. You know it's just going to get worse. Unless you could get him for a deal, I wouldn't trade for him.

He included Wiggins (#1) though he had already been drafted, so perhaps his name would have made more sense than putting #1....though #1 emphasizes more that, at that time, he was supposed to be a premier prospect. But AD has significantly more trade value than Love, not only because of how good he is on both sides of the ball, but because he has 3 years left on his deal, and not 1 and a half, which is when stars that may leave usually get traded.

I'm pretty sure Davis isn't going anywhere this offseason.
