Windhorst: Joe Johnson to Rockets "lined up" (Along with other buyout discussion)
Today on The Jump, Windhorst said the word on the street is that Iso Joe will likely be reunited with D'Antoni once he is bought out by the Kings. Not exactly a point guard, but can create shots for a second unit none the less, and can play for Anderson when he can't hit/is getting exposed on switches. What do y'all think?
Other buyout guys:
Bellinelli (Too similar to Green imo, no point)
Tony Allen (Don't believe he has much in the tank)
Bogut (Not sure he's better than Black, so no use in keeping four centers)
and likely more to come

Re: Windhorst: Joe Johnson to Rockets "lined up" (Along with other buyout discussion)
Definitely not a traditional PG, but is one of those swingman fully capable of playing multiple positions and bringing up the ball. This definitely eliminates our need for a backup PG. Obviously he won't get a ton of minutes (likely play less than a full quarter when everyone else is healthy), but this signing will also allow MDA to run a deeper rotation to give some of our starters rest whenever possible.
Bottomline is that it's a low risk high reward move that will enhance our roster depth. Good move if it happens.

How's his defense these days?
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

I disagree with the idea that Bellinelli is useless because he duplicates GG's skill set. With the amount of injuries we've had (and could continue to have), you can always use another shooter. I'm sure MDA would feel more comfortable playing a veteran like Bellinelli over guys like Markel Brown.

I've been reading that we'd try to use him as a stretch 4. I have confidence in his ability to guard the 4 spot.
Let's also remember his best intangible -- he's clutch.

His last good season was 2 years ago, but he's been an OK player for his career, efficiency-wise. On par with Eric Gordon, surprisingly.
Still, if we get him AND Wright, we are DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPlikeMariana.

I don't honestly think he's a huge help to either team. For us he's more of a "I'll let you guys take a break during this blowout" sort of player at this point, but probably an effective one.

Yeah he's a four now and he can definitely guard those and he can switch a little better than Ryno

The Warriors bench has been inconsistent lately and might be a legitimate weak spot for them in the postseason. As of now, they’re only getting solid play from David West and occasionally Nick Young. I think JJ would have definitely helped them.
Also read that JJ is a great locker room guy. Can’t hurt.

Whatever it takes to crap all over GSW and not bring back Bobby Brown. One of the most clutch guys to ever play the game, and one of my fav players.

Is there any rule that says B.B. couldn’t be an assistant coach or an honorary cheerleader or a highly paid mascot or something?

Re: Windhorst: Joe Johnson to Rockets "lined up" (Along with other buyout discussion)
who are we going to waive now?
Hunter and Brown are two-way contract
you can't waive Zhou
Onuaku and Williams still under contract next season
Black is only one year
financial wise it would be Black
basketball wise it would be Onuaku

Bobby Brown just got free money.
Just stop bringing him back already.

They probably went to sign the deal knowing he would be waived. Both sides. Was a move just to make him whole money wise because they promised him a deal. So he gets his money

Classic low risk high reward move. Basically this move wouldn't hurt us even if it failed. Plus JJ seems like a true professional and a great locker room guy. I like it.
