Bad coaching

Post#1 » by flow » Sat Feb 10, 2018 3:33 pm

Reggie Bullock was stroking it in the first half.

He proceeded to get two shots the entire second half. The first of which was a made 3 at about the 6 minute mark of the third quarter. From that point on, he got one shot the rest of the game.

This is inexcusable awareness by a coach. Run sets for him. Run him off double screens if you have to. Do something that indicates you're paying attention to who's making shots for you.

It’s clear SVG has lost his edge as a coach in this league. He’s been passed by. Constant P&R, DHO and then iso Blake for literally a half of basketball without ever changing. Horrible out of timeout plays as well.

He’s clearly not a bad coach. But he isn’t good. I personally couldn’t stand being berated for 82 games a year plus practice. SVG is old school and new school blew past him long ago.

Stan's coaching being suspect isn't anything new. When you're out-coached by Doc Rivers, and the opposing team's best player is Lou Williams, you stink at coaching.

In-game adjustments have always been a foreign concept to SVG. Letting Blake and Dre just iso on the block and brick shot after shot was hard to watch. It made the Clips offense looks like we were playing the Warriors by comparison, with the ball AND the players actually moving on offense. Whereas, our guys stood around like pylons 90% of the time.

This is the main reason I didn’t want to make the playoffs before the Blake trade. He would almost be guaranteed fired. But since dip sh^t van Grundy not only traded away our 1st but couldn’t get real protection on it, we have no choice but to make it and if we somehow sneak in he will most likely be retained.
I mean seriously, wtf is the point of getting top 4 protection when the lottery is top 3? No one wanted Blake’s contract. They should’ve 1)demanded Lou as part of the deal, or 2) forced them to take Leuer or LG, or 3) not included a pick or at the very very least 4) get the pick lottery protected.
Hope this move bites dip sh^t stan in the as$

Our pick is only top 4 protected. We only get it back if we miss playoffs and get incredibly lucky in the lotto. We’d basically be a lottery team without a lottery pick. That’s ultimate no man’s land.

I know. I meant, let’s get this over with. They get our pick this year then we can go back to having a draft to look forward to/asset to trade.

We miss the playoffs you can blow it up and trade Drummond for a player like Lillard or John Wall. His value is at an all time high right now and he's becoming a franchise player worth the max. I think we're fine going forward from here, Blake has been great. We just broke a 5 game winning streak lol it happens

Maybe the Clippers made an adjustment and Bullock isn't good enough to counter, he knows it, SVG knows it, you guys think just because he can shoot he should be the focal point of our offense.

Its Gores fault for letting a guy whos got one year remaining on his contract make a move thats going to dictate our roster for the next 5 seasons. This was a hail mary play for SVG to keep his job and make a playoff run. Gores figured picking up Blake and capping out our roster is going to sell tickets but its in reality that arena is going to be empty for years. People want a real contender not some chase the 1st round exit pretender.

Theirs a reason Jerry West didnt wait to the trade deadline to make a Blake move. He heard this offer and took it ASAP. He knows that salaries are tight in coming years and 1st round picks right now are a premium. This is a AWESOME draft as well. We should of held out to the deadline to make a move for Blake and at least get sweet Lou or something more. This was "the master of panic" feeling like he had to get Blake asap to chase the 8 seed at the cost of our future.

Teams cap locked till 2020-21:
Drummond-25mill per
Blake- Blake 32mill per
Rjax-17mill per
Luer-10mill per
Galloway-7mill per
Josh Smith(LOL) 5mill per

2020-21 Drummond 28mill B
Blake 36.5ill
21-22 Blake 39mill

Why the fack did we just add Blake Griffin? We should of been trying to lose salary and add cheap rookies to this roster. Makes no fkn sense man. Awful spot to be in. Were commited to this current roster for years for what?

I hated getting Blake because he has never shown up when it matters, playoffs.

What does that have to do with the coaching in Detroit?

What really irked me (and Blake too) was pulling him after he picked up second foul in the game against the Clippers it was almost half time. A big emotional game for Blake and you could tell he was bothered with that move. Also, our offense is crap teams had adjusted to the Dre handoffs after our first 20 games this year.

I think we would have at least 5-6 more wins if we had a different coach

Look what Stevens did in Boston with that young roster, SVG just plain and simple sucks

I don't think SVG is crap, but he's not in the top half of the league. He's somewhere in the 15-20 range because of his offensive deficiencies and not getting the best effort out of his players on a nightly basis. Also he looks angry after almost every made shot by the opposing team or every missed shot by us that's got to wear on the players and might be why he has lost the team more than once.

That's the problem, we are WAYYYY below average talent wise regardless of the fact we have Andre (and now Blake)

Our bench players, hell our other starters probably wouldnt see more than 15-20 minutes a game

Leuer was playing significant minutes, Stanley Johnson, Byucks?

With that trash, we need a top 10 coach not someone in the bottom of the league in terms of player relations, offense/defensive schemes, and in-game adjustments to counter opposing coaches' moves

Yes our defense stinks, BECAUSE WE KEEP GIVING UP OPEN CORNER 3s!!!
That one the most valuable shots in basketball and we just offer it to oponnnets on a silver plater with this ridiculous pnr cover. I can understand why you’d blitz and double the ball handler when we’re playing Lillard or C.J. But why the hell do we do the same to Mike Delayne and the rest?? It’s mind blowing!! Atlanta new exactly what to do after the pnr all the time. Big men rolls, a wing comes to help, just pas it to the corner for an open 3, and never any adjustment for SVG... it was just exasperating....

Or, the layup line to the basket. My wife asked me if Austin Rivers was considered a star player, because he was getting to the rim at will against us with absolutely nobody around the challenge him.
