Payton is a legit NBA starting PG... and has shown it here. Just like Canaan has showed he is a reliable backup PG, well Payton has shown he is the face on that starting PG role for an NBA team. Ulis is crap. Mike James was even crappier....

Bender?
Loved when he pumped his fist and yelled out!.. THATS the FIRE!!!! More of that and he will become his true potential one day!

Chriss is amazingly disappointing... bad effort and bad IQ/mental approach.

Jackson... BEAST!... star in the making. Done, said it.

Warren, amazing scorer... but I think thats what he is. I still think he's a super 6th man on a good team. I just dont think he will contribute much when he is clamped down or missing his shots.

Aren't we too good for a top 5 lottery pick when Booker (and Sauce) gets back?
I'm a bit afraid to be honest... Let's just stop the season right here and let others start the playoffs as it is! :)

Well, look at our schedule.... http://www.espn.com/nba/team/schedule/_/name/phx/phoenix-suns

And of course there is the lottery and anything can happen there.

Sauce is no way near the player to make an impact to game results. he is a good team mate, positive and upbeat. its good that he can grab rebounds and put up points against benches, but he is what he is. An ideal third string center and not bad option for backup center when there's an injury.

Who will be the main beneficiary of the Payton trade for you guys? Is it Augustin, Mack or Hezonja?

We have to play four games against the GSW yet. Our remaining schedule is brutal, so I think that we are gonna be bottom 5 pretty sure with or without Elfrid.

But with a solid PG out there we are gonna be more competitive and watchable.

5 "pretty sure" wins, 2 games against NO and LAC each, plus one-one against Miami and Charlotte, where I like (dislike in this context) our chances if we re at full strenght. Add 2 games against the resting GSW at the very back of the schedule, we might be winning 10 games from here on out if we catch somebody else with an off shooting game for them.
Thats 27-28 wins - and could be the difference between 3 and 6.
I loved what I saw from the team with an NBA starter-material point guard, and JJ looking more and more like a top 3 pick (thank you Danny), and Bender becoming what he should be (eff you yoga teacher for not developing him instead of your man-crush Quese).
Just not sure if it's worth it - getting real ambivalent feelings about this...

I know, thats why he was in parenthesis. I wasn't too happy about his contract when he signed it, becouse we're paying a 3rd stringer 2nd stringer money. But he can/will put up points in bunches and gobble up rebounds. But that can be all the difference in one or two games, which we do not need at this point. At all.

Man... all these public accolades on Payton have to make little man Ulis feel even smaller. I'd give him one more year under contract then once Book is inked up, its bye bye Ty. (not really sure the two are that tied together)

It will be refreshing to shed ourselves some of this dead weight.... ChubbyDud and Grampa Chandler... Knight eventually.... there is 35 million tied up in essentially nothing but the minimum salary requirement.

Only one game but Payton seems like he can be part of the mix next year. He would be so much better off the bench than Canaan or Ulis (I already have Ulis being traded this summer anyway, not guaranteed $$ are good to trade in deals).

I am not so sure GSW will be resting - Houston is right there with them for top seed

I think the Suns will get to 26 to 28 wins. Top 5 and hope for ping pong balls to go there way once

Opinion on that is divided. Our players have grown leaps and bounds under him, but we have not had a PG all year, don't have many guys that can hit 3s, are young, and have revolving non defensive centers.

I think he's a good coach. Upper echelon? No, but I like him. Worth rehiring? Depends on who wants to interview with us and who is among the choices. There may be better options, but we don't know if there will be yet. I'd rather have him than Kidd who has expressed interest.

Which is why I've been so vocal about getting a worthwhile PG in here since Bledsoe left (my desire for Kyrie was about 'upgrading' and potential for 'All-Star-recruiting').

But without a decent PG, especially one like Payton who knows how to run an offense and distribute, it's very difficult to develop young players.

Personally, I would be satisfied with his Hiring, or a coach similar to his style. No more of the Hornacek/Watson-type of HC; we need one who understands the 'Xs-and-Os'. I believe Triano is that type of HC, but like you said, that doesn't mean there aren't better ones available.

Eff Barton.

But I was just recently informed that Bender will never be able to reach Jokic's "greatness"; I believe I was told to "get real," or something to that effect.

There is no reason that with some added weight, and some confidence/assertiveness, that Bender couldn't be even better than Jokic, with his Reach/Length, Athleticism, Shooting, etc. Not sure that is where we will concentrate our efforts in developing him, though.

Some here wanted Rubio. Well, looks like we did a bit better. We got Payton for free and he actually fits the timeline.

If only Chriss would get his attitude together, he could really benefit from our new PG. Much like TJ/Bender/JJ did tonight.

He is a better defender than I thought.

When Bender starts dropping strings of triple doubles and consistently dominating on a nightly basis, come back with this. Until then...get real.
