I think everyone deep down knows how this is still going to go. They always have.

will it though? i mean is it possible that masai and the coaching staff could actually not be aware what a mistake this would be? I know i'm afraid it will happen, but if it actually does it will be mind-boggling.

I don't think DeRozan, Lowry, Casey, and LeBron doing what they have always done in the playoffs would be all that mind-boggling. There's a reason the Raptors betting odds to come out of the EC in the playoffs still aren't good despite them being a vastly superior team statistically to any other in the conference this year and far better than any previous Raptors squad in history. Most still aren't buying that this can be repeated come April.

Pretty certain most people would have a different answer already in a half of basketball.

agreed, pretty much what I can see as well.
efc is my call for this squad.
we didn't add what we needed before the trade deadline, and we decided to keep depth guys who, while good, wont see the requisite time in the playoffs. we need to add a win player who can bale out dd/lowry, and create their own shot and knock down open 3s.

^ this is obviously going to be the big question come playoff time. but if our bench is blowing out every other team it will be very tough to make as dumb a decision as not continuing with that same strategy and suddenly play the starters way more.

it will probably depend on whether the bench can keep this up, or something close to it, through the end of the season. there's a long way to go...

To beat LeBron, they almost certainly needed a great player as a #3 instead of the mediocre Ibaka. Would be very surprising if the current starting lineup was enough to beat him considering how bad Demar/Lowry usually are in the postseason.

This team looks good with hood/hill/clarkson hitting that 3 pointer with accuracy

Cavs only have one rotation player (Lebron) now who can consistently create offense for others off the dribble. They're better than they were for sure, but it will be interesting to see how they develop offense without running Lebron into the ground.

This team won't beat Cleveland. I love the team to death, and am so happy for the guys, but the issue remains, we don't have another gear that teams like Cleveland do. Even before the trades they made I felt this way.

At best we can hope Demar and Kyle match their regular season level of play, but as seen in the past I don't think Kyle will (he's had 4 years to prove me wrong). Depth is nice, but in the playoffs it doesn't really matter.

LeBron can and will turn on another gear, and nothing we can do about it, it's why he's in the GOAT debate.

You need superstars to win in the NBA which we just don't have. Yes 04 Pistons blah blah but this roster doesn't compare to that team if we're being realistic. But even if we lose to CLE I won't be angry, We literally squeezed all the juice we could out of this roster, and that's all we can ask for from our team and in life.

Boston will drop to #3 and the Raptors and Cavs will end up the top 2 teams in the East. Just glad that they won't have to face the Cavs until the ECF.

Also Boston doesn't scare me at all. Even if they have a healthy Gordon Hayward they don't worry me at all.

This needs to be bumped so raptorslife's two polar opposite thread titles can be beside each other. Symmetry.

I still think the Cavs are the team to beat in the East because Lebron Lebrons in the playoffs, but replacing Irving with a bunch of role players makes them less scary.

I think the thing to be scared of is a re-engaged LeBron.

I'm not scared of the Cavs ... I've already accepted this Raps squad will lose to them in the playoffs.
