Re: The Steve Clifford Thread 2.0
frank fits into the ongoing theme of "we need bigs that can space pull rim protectors away from the paint for kemba and facilitate offense"
i don't even think that's 'system' stuff so much as kemba legitimately needed it - and it still helps a ton now that's he's improved. this isn't even a recent thing either. we were sticking kemba with everything from mullens to diaw to mcbob. its just the kind of complimentary player he needed.

frank, trading the pick, probably even hairston.
Monk doesn't really fit any of these categories though. Guess he is a "winner" since he went to UK.
Mkg was definitely a cho guy. There is even a video of him making that decision on draft night. And according to Rick, there was a heated exchange between the coach and cho on who to choose. Clifford wanted Mitchell and cho wanted monk, since it was Clifford who wanted Howard, cho was allowed to have his guy Monk
The curse of Higgins!

Wow, if that is correct, what a crazy way to run a team. Cho is not a genius, and was a reach as a GM to begin with. Here his record is, at best, mediocre to below average.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Haha. Alternating player decisions? What a wonderful way to make sure a team is never a coherent version.

We know Cody was a Cho pick. Cho probably holds table tennis records on Indiana's campus b/c he was there so often.

Re: The Steve Clifford Thread 2.0
I'd buy their argument if this was the first season we were bad, but we've underperformed for years and the team has put players that align with Cliff's philosophy. So, fan scapegoat 101 just doesn't make any sense at all imo.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

Clifford reiterated yesterday in a radio interview that this team is the most talented team that he's coached since he's been here. Where does that put the blame?

Precisely. Whomever the dweeb is with “Bring Back The Buzz”, their self-imposed brilliance about basketball fails to acknowledge the most basic of principles: accountability. Coaches must achieve results. They can have some bad years, but if they fail to reach goals consistently, they are gone.
Cliff and Cho have got to go.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Maybe most individually talented. This team meshes together about as well as ketchup and honey.

I give Cliff a pass on that statement. He's taking the heat for his players by saying it, which is part of what a good coach does. This kind of communication is one of his strengths and is part of the reason guys like Kemba like him. That doesn't absolve him of his other failures though.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Re: The Steve Clifford Thread 2.0
To be fair everyone in the organization from the players all the way up to Jordan need to be held accountable for the lack of success this year. Bottom line it's two consecutive years that we've missed the playoffs with a squad that was talented enough and should have been in the playoffs. Jordan has little option but to make some changes to the team either with the players the coaches the front office or all of the above to appease the fans show them that he's trying to do something different this year, rather than just having a go next year with the exact same coaches general manager and players. It's time for a change.

Re: The Steve Clifford Thread 2.0
Coach is the one who insisted on getting someone like Dwight Howard in here this year to start over Cody. He's the one that insist on playing the inside outside ball and dumping it into the post every other possession. Coach is probably the one who asked for a tall point guard like MCW. He's the one who keeps playing said point guard over other options. Coaches the one who sticks with the same exact lineup that's gotten us exactly nowhere and doesn't try anything different. Yeah there's a ton of blame to go around batum was awful this year and he deserves blame. Cody Zeller injury killed us. Rich should have done a better job of finding us a backup point guard that wasn't terrible. But at the end of the day Cliff has to own his mistakes and this is two years in a row that he's failed to get us into the playoffs. He's got to go
