He is re-evaluated in 1-2 weeks. That’s it. It sounds like he can jog but not cut right now.

We’re boned. Haha

Please lord let him be good to go soon. Any chance we get him back after all star break?

He's always looked pudgy... him and Ray Felton have that stocky build that looks weird for a PG.

khalid el amin Is another old PG that comes to mind.

Stan gave away the season when he didn't upgrade Ish Smith when Reggie went down. Going 10 weeks without your starting PG when he is the driver of your offense and choosing to go with a 10-team journeyman to start and a D-League lifer to back him up is asinine if the plan wasn't to overtly tank.

I still don't get why we're starting Ish. Especially with Blake able to handle the ball and SJ too to a lesser extent.
Start Galloway. At least he can shoot

Yeah, easy to say but pretty hard to do. Teams aren't just lining up to give away starting caliber point guards. We would have had to give up assets to get anything done. If we had, we probably wouldn't have Blake.

Realistically, we weren't winning anything this year. We might have locked down a playoff spot, but that is about it. No need to mortgage the future for that. Hopefully, we can slip into the playoffs this year. Over the summer, we fill in some holes and/or try to upgrade one of the guard sports.

Given the way he's played in the last several games, SVG might also be wondering why he's starting Ish. Sadly, we have no startlingly better options.

Our biggest reason for struggles on offense is having a PG like Ish to run the offense. The guy plays clueless basketball for several consecutive possessions in games.

Start Galloway or Kennard at PG and let SJ and Griffin be the main handlers.

I wouldn't be surprised if Galloway will start for us against the Pelicans. He would thrive with BG on the floor, not with the second unit.

I just can't wait with RJ back on the floor and run P&R with Blake. He's good at it and it would benefit the team.

Something I was thinking about and kind of shelved once we made the Blake trade, but it's starting to look pretty relevant again:

Could an argument be made that Jackson is our most valuable player? I don't mean best, most talented, etc. that'd be Drummond and then maybe Griffin.

But least replaceable (factoring in how it affects the starting lineup and bench without him) ? Just look how bad we were last year either without Reggie or with a not fully recovered Reggie.

We were a playoff team the prior year, a lottery team last year basically without him, and then we were a top 4 team in the East until he got hurt this year.
Reggie goes down and our offense craters to last in the league and we go on an 8 game losing streak. Now we got a nice win streak initially after the trade, but the offensive woes are starting to rear their ugly head again.

Ish clearly plays better coming off the bench, and the rest of the bench plays better with Ish pushing the pace too. At this point I'd be open to trying someone else at starting pg until Reggie is back, even if Ish ends up playing the most minutes and/or closing out the game.

All of that considered, I still think with the improvements he's made this year that Drummond provides the most value to our team, and our starting lineup still had issues even with Reggie. So while not Pistons mvp, I don't think it should be overlooked how important he is to our offense, and the balance he brings to our starting and bench lineups.

I'd also hold off judgements on the Blake trade and how he fits within our offense until we see what the lineup looks like with Reggie back. Hopefully that's soon, though we definitely don't want to rush him back like last year.

So whats the official scoop on RJ and his return to the court? We've passed the 8week mark where he was to be reevaluated. And from what I remember they said sometime in March?
Any news on this that anyone's heard?

Don't think the timetable has changed, initially was re-evaluate in 6-8 weeks, which is where we're at now. I think he's started some activity and the hope is he'll start running during AS break, looking at early - mid March for return to lineup.

Looking at the schedule I predict a return for our 6game road trip starting March 13th. We play March 9th and then have 3 full days off

It would be nice if he can at least get out there with this team and get some practice in over the break
