Book, Duds & Triano all with good responses to the Kerr situation. I think it's a pretty good test of where this team is at mentally. By the sound of things the tank hasn't made them go crazy yet.

Ha ha ha . What a crap show this team is. Don't even have to coach against them and you'll still win by 40. Great job Sarver, McD, Triano. The entire sports community thinks this organization is a total joke and pathetic mess.

PHX pride.....

I'm pretty sure that GSW could occasionally do without Kerr against many other teams in the league. That team basically runs itself.

So we lost to champs, with three of their four allstars playing, we are missing our best player, and people didn’t expect us to lose big?

This team isn’t crap, it’s young, injured, and we just got a new point guard, damn what the heck do people expect?

As for Kerr, come on now, it’s a NBAtv televised game, you don’t pull that crap, and have the cameras rolling. Let one of your assistant coaches run the team if the players are tired of hearing from you. Or quit. It was beyond disrespectful, it was a dick move.

Here some comments from Triano, Payton and Daniels talking about Kerr.
First, there were the comments Denver guard Will Barton made when he disparaged the Suns on a podcast after their 48-point loss to San Antonio last Wednesday.

“I’m going to be the first to say it,” Barton said. “They’ve got to send the whole Phoenix team to the G League for that. I’m sorry. Except Devin Booker and T.J. Warren. The rest of them have got to go to the G League.”

Then, on Monday, Golden State coach Steve Kerr apparently decided the Suns were so little of a threat that he actually had his players drawing up plays during timeouts. Veterans Andre Igoudala and David West took turns with the grease board in the first half, Stephen Curry was designing plays coming out of halftime and Draymond Green took over in the second half.

“I told Jay that people may make a big deal of it and it had nothing to do with being disrespectful,” Kerr said. “It had everything to do with me trying to reach my team. I haven't been able to reach them the last month. They are tired of my voice and I'm tired of my voice.

“It's been a long haul these last few years. I wasn't reaching them and we just figured it was probably a good night to pull a trick out of the hat and do something different.”

Triano accepted Kerr's explanation.

“No disrespect,” Triano said. “He was just trying to bring his team together and rightfully so. … Whatever coach you are, you have to do what you have to do to build your team up. If he thinks that helps them I tip my hat.”

“We’re worried about ourselves,” Payton said. “I don’t have time to worry about what’s going on over there.”

“It’s disrespectful,” Troy Daniels said. “I don’t think it’s hard to coach those guys, though. So I think anybody can do it.”

“We should take that into all our other games and try not to let it happen again,” he said. “It’s tough as a player. I know it’s tough for the coaches, it’s tough for the organization, it’s tough for everybody. But it ain’t going to get any easier. We have to show some pride and show some fight. Whoever we have out there, no matter the personnel we have to show that grit and grind and fight as player and as a man.”

Daniels doesn't seem too Bright. He let's himself get bent out of shape over every perceived slight. But he throws a ball through a hole, not like you have to be a Richard Dawkins type to achieve this. So what do you want.

Ehh, kind of like in the way pop would rest manu, Parker n Duncan years ago against us. It's whatever.

Suns have to be better, no matter what. Losing by 45+ 2 out of 3 games is unacceptable, on every level. A lot of the guys have given up. The break can't come soon enough. Get book out there with a few practices n after we should look better, but it shouldn't come to that. No effort.

I think we're all in agreement that neither Chandler or Len should see the floor again this season. I guess this last game in Utah can be their last or whatever if they want.

What do people expect, heck this board talks about tanking at almost an hourly rate. I’m sure people say it on players twitter feeds and other social platforms. Why would players want to do their best for fans who want them to lose? And no, letting your players call plays while cameras are rolling on them is nothing like resting players. Now if Kerr had one of his assistants coach, that would have gone over better. Lastly, it’s ridiculous the calls that GS gets on a nightly basis, this situation just makes them look like a bag of dicks.

Ironically, now that Kerr let the students run his class, how is he supposed to get that back? They will just think they can run things just as good if not better without him, or any coaches for that matter.

Kerr is smarter than this. This was not a classy move.

I expect the Suns to put together a team that won't have historically bad losses. I expect the Suns to be coached to a level of professionalism so the rest of league doesn't look at them as total farce.

Can't wait till next year and this young team of losers has a full training camp and returns to the court savvy veterans knowing how to win.

Who cares what the rest of league thinks? GS had seventeen years being what we are now, and after getting one of top players to help make them a super team, while our fans are celebrating every loss? The fans are the farce. Many care more about lotto balls then they care about the team and it’s mentality. You can’t turn on wins like a light switch. Our best player is out, a player who scored seventy points just last year, and we don’t have great shooters. Lastly, we don’t get the calls teams like GS gets. I’m not sure what people expect. Getting blown out by teams like SAS and GS isn’t shocking when we shoot 34% from the field.

We had three guys take 18 shots, Payton went 11/18, Warren went 6/18, and Jackson went 4/18. We shot poorly except for Payton, and a handful of others who didn’t take enough shots. Gray is trying to get a contract, so he shot too much. We have a point guard running our team who has had two games and a practice, and our back up point is on his second 10 day contract. Man context is important.

I can't believe how good GSW is!!!

In the past, their style had holes and they could be exploited in the paint. Now...they have no weakness. Anyone else notice how their athletic ability, effort, and strategy basically allowed them to send 4 guys into the paint to contest layups yet they never seemed to actually leave anyone on the perimeter open? It was insane to watch. Almost like we were playing 5 on 9.

They aren't just an offensive juggernaut now. They are a top defensive team too. And on offense, it's not just the Step + Klay show with Draymond running cleanup. The attacks come from everywhere.

They're crap as well as being young. You can definitely be both.

But the upside is the team should improve... How well is the question.

The issue is... And it's been like this for a while... Years in fact...

The team doesn't play well as a team... There is too much improv offensively. There is no solid defensive structure....

Team tactics are very predictable because they don't have any.. Except pass the ball around until someone has space to make their move or shot. Poor X and O execution or lack of.

Our team isn’t crap. They are inconsistent and in a transition of systems. Triano hasn’t had a training camp. We went through Watson and Bledsoe, then half of the season with a second string pg running the show, and a ton of injuries. We just can’t beat people when we shoot 34% and the opposing team shoots 60%.

They surrounded Curry with a bunch of long defensive wingmen. Imagine 4 Shawn Marion types... Yes that was what Kerr realized... Marion type defenders are so versatile and disruptive... So he got them on the team.... Green, Iguadala, McCaw, Durant, Klay, Bell.... All versatile long energetic springy defenders.

When we get our roster figured out we need a better coach. Triano has shown he can handle this team. I just wonder how he would handle a roster loaded with talent.

Suns need springy defenders as well to be effective.

You have Jackson... Bender needs to be stronger or quicker.... Chriss is a bum defensively only good at weakside shot blocking or chasing... Average length.

I would trade for a couple more springy long versatile defenders to put around Booker.

I mentioned Bender above... If he could be more aggressive defensively as in perhaps if he was on triple shot caffeine all game.. He would be disruptive. Jackson just needs strength... He is so quick and gets his arms up on most shot attempts.

Return to Phoenix Suns
